Are you bland enough? Just incredible IMHO. WT 63, 2/15
"Clearly, not all dedicated and even mature Christians possess the holy spirit to the same measure. There is no doubt that unselfishness, depth of devotion, self-control, humility, mildness of spirit, studiousness as regards God’s Word and zeal in God’s service have a bearing on how much of the holy spirit we have. It also appears that inherited qualities have no small bearing on the extent to which we permit the holy spirit to have a free flow in our lives or tend to obstruct its activity. Thus the more colorful the personality the more difficult for the holy spirit to saturate it fully. The colorful personality has more need of self-control and must in particular guard against the snare of creature worship. Richness of personality seems to work against spiritual-mindedness, as the colorful person tends to lean more on himself, even as those who are rich in material things tend to put their trust in them instead of Jehovah God."—Ps. 52:7.snugglebunny

Would You Ever Go Back To The Witnesses??
by minimus inevery once in a while you hear people say they actually “miss” their old witness friends and or family.
some would have even stayed in the organization if they became a bit more liberal and open minded.

No. I find that I can't feel comfortable being a member of any organisation.

Languages, Dialects, Accents
by LoveUniHateExams injust though i'd start a thread devoted to languages, dialects/sociolects and accents, with the idea being that posters can comment on any language, or dialect or accent of any language, on this thread.. any phrases, expressions or idioms that you find interesting are also welcome.
first, the subject of english accents came up on another thread.. the british isles have many different types of accent (although many of the dialects may be dying out), and if i start to take a closer look, i can't help but see 'patterns' .... in received pronunciation of standard english, the letter r is pronounced initially, between vowels, and after consonants, e.g.
red, arrow, break.

Interesting. My BIL who lives near Dumfries, has also begun to learn Gaelic together with his wife. He gave us a few examples of sentence formation and methods of addressing one another which I found intriguing.

After the death of a spouse, how long did people wait to get remarried?
by RubaDub ini was on the phone with a long-time friend from my original congregation north of new york city and she told me that the 'shit hit the fan' when a brother (long-time elder i know well) got remarried about 6 weeks after his wife died.. he was about 60 and his new wife (a pioneer that i also know) was about 50 and had never been married.. it became a huge issue when the co came.
due to all the talk and chatter in the congregation, he even included in one of his talks without naming names, that marriage is something sacred and that when and how people get married is a personal matter as long as it conforms to bible standards.. anyway, it shut everybody up.
any similar experiences in your current/former congregations?.

From what I've seen of some families, it can be the grown-up children that can cause problems for a bereaved parent who wants to re-marry. Plaintive yelps of "What about our memories of Mum" are often the response to a widowed father who's maybe spent years alone before he's able to form a new relationship.
My lady and I have made it plain to all our children that neither of us wishes for the surviving partner to remain in enforced loneliness for the rest of their life. And we're both OK with that.

Imagine if the US had followed that advice when Europe was in turmoil in the 20th century.
The UK was already winning the war in the air by the time the USA joined in and got over here. Just a few months after Pearl Harbour, the UK was dispatching 1000 bomber raids over Germany, none of them from the US. The USA didn't win the war - but they certainly shortened the proceedings.

Which songs give you goosebumps?
by LoveUniHateExams ini don't know if this topic has been covered before - it might 've been.. i also recommend flipper's excellent music thread ('what songs have you been listening to?
', or similar).. but, i'd just like to start a thread about certain songs giving me goosebumps.
y'know, when you hear a song that profoundly effects you in some difficult-to-describe way and the hairs on your arm stand on end even though the room temperature's comfortably warm.. so, which songs give you goosebumps?.

This one. Made a decision that the dubbies were wrong. The following week I went to a folk club with about a dozen other ex's. We found ourselves singing along to this one. I've loved it ever since. I'm just about able to strum it after several pints of Butcombe Gold.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bSEmFvuUXWk&fbclid=IwAR2aDU-d5O53seJ9W7qNIOjB7xwEWWOXhAlqVO8KRzoZt_PG_h4FslBVY-A
