For the UK Chancellor Rishi Sunak: - Is coronavirus REALLY so bad?
by The Fall Guy inon bbc news footage a couple of days ago, he was filmed getting out of his ministerial car and walking up to the entrance of a building in london where he was warmly greeted by an official.
the greeting was a firm handshake, followed by the two of them walking very closely next to each other into the building!.
what did his government say about keeping 2 metres distant?

Yes. My BIL and his wife both have the virus, but are making a slow recovery. He'd been working in Austria but came home earlier than expected and was in contact with a whole bunch of guys from Italy who'd been on a skiing trip.
He says that it's unbelievably debilitating and has hammered into his immune system so that other stray bugs surface later. They're in total isolation so we've posted chocolate bars to them in the hope of cheering them up.

About the Memorial and Unleavened Bread Thing..
by snugglebunny inunleavened bread has no yeast in it.
and yeast is a symbol of sin, right?
not good for symbolising whatever it's supposed to symbolise, obviously.. so my beloved missus, who i believe is possibly the best cook in the world (although i do have a soft spot for chef nigella lawson with those magnificent knockers and all) is an absolute ace at baking sourdough bread.. and yes, sourdough bread - especially when toasted - is absolutely yummy.

I get it. Unleavened bread has no yeast in it. And yeast is a symbol of sin, right? Not good for symbolising whatever it's supposed to symbolise, obviously.
So my beloved missus, who I believe is possibly the best cook in the world (although I do have a soft spot for chef Nigella Lawson with those magnificent knockers and all) is an absolute ace at baking sourdough bread.
And yes, sourdough bread - especially when toasted - is absolutely yummy. And it doesn't contain yeast!
So. How about it? Would it be OK if the Memorial emblems were sourdough bread instead of that ghastly unleavened stuff?
Enquiring minds need to know!

Social distancing and the Memorial
by Kingdavid41 inwith the coronavirus now categorized as a global pandemic and many large gatherings are now social distancing for safety concerns of contacting and spreading the virus.. will the memorial of christ death take place on april 7 2020 worldwide where thousands will gaether in large crowds to commemorate the death of jesus as commanded in the bible.
jesus gave the command to keep doing this in remembrance of him or will sound, reasonableness and good judgment for safety overrule on that special night.
my guess is that it will not be canceled regardless of the frightening and very real pandemic the virus has caused around the world!.

I guess "social distancing" will be on a par with self-disfellowshiping..

Covid-19 (Coronavirus) - Status Update Thread
by Simon inthis topic is to focus on status updates & advice (no opinion or politics please).. status.
latest status is that it's serious, probably isn't going to be contained and most large companies are making contingency plans, cancelling large events etc... which i don't think would happen if it was just people being alarmist.
the incubation period means it may have already spread further and infected many more people than are currently known, so expect jumps in the numbers over the coming days and weeks.. tracking.

Europe traveling to US suspended. I dont get why UK is exempt.
UK isn't part of the EU's Schengen agreement. Schengen countries have open borders. UK doesn't.

No. I stopped believing it was the truth. Then I started to think of all the things that I could be doing if I wasn't a witness.

Greta Thunberg, Worse than Plague
by Simon inso greta thunberg thinks the world pollutes too much.
specifically, the parts of the world that pollute the least and have the cleanest industries.
she doesn't seem to care about india or china who are the biggest polluters by far.. "how dare they".

My BIL whose a professor specialising in the disposal of nuclear waste, informed me that last Christmas Day, just as all the ovens went on to cook our turkeys, the year's highest demand on our energy supplies of electricity and gas, our wind generated electricity supplied just 0.4% of the UK's demand.
