What are your experiences having Jehovah Witnesses work for you or you work with?
by adjusted knowledge ini've managed several thousand employees in the last decade.
i've had a handful that identified themselves as witnesses.
from experience, they were no different than any other employees.

I worked for a witness owned company for 8 years and it was the worst experience of my life. We had about 20 employees all witnesses. There was constant stress and turmoil every day for everyone. The owner was a real dick. Nothing was ever good enough and someone was always being called into his office. But when you had a problem with another employee, he couldn't be bothered. He had no respect for anyone's intelligence or work ability. He was always ever hiring elders, servants, ex CO's etc. and would put them in positions of authority over those who had worked hard for much longer. All because he was itching to be made elder. And they all had to make a point of counseling everyone on personal matters that weren't work related. I remember the worst was when he hired an ex CO (my nemesis) to be a manager. I put my foot down and demanded to be appointed the position. Found out later I was just being humored. This guy knew no boundaries. He had no business experience or tact either. One day I come back to the office after being out on calls and he had completely redone my area of responsibility (because of course he had a better way) After being disrespected so many times by this guy, I l finally let loose on him and ripped him a new one. His words? "How dare you speak to me that way, I'm an elder!" Of course I was the one called on the carpet for it. My whole time there it was just everyday of the same crap. When I got disfellowshipped they fired me. I had to sign a release in exchange for a decent severance. I was shown the door and had to wait outside for my last check. When I came to pick up my first severance check, I was not allowed in. I am so bloody thankful everyday I left that place behind. -

Do You Consider Jehovah's Witnesses A Boring Group of People???
by minimus ini think they are the most boring people on earth.
they are about as exciting as a dead ant..

Atually they are divided. I spent time with some of the friends over the years that enjoyed a good time. Skiing, the theatre, opera, cruises, Las Vegas, theme parks, etc. in addition to tons of parties and get-togethers at the beach. Then there were even those that enjoyed the bars and clubs (very few). The smart ones knew how to take the edge off of living in the borg. But there were many, many that were so damn boring, stiff and regimented I couldn't stand them. One of the reasons I lasted so long in the borg I guess, I never spent a lot of time with those whose every other word out of their mouth was Jehovah, new system, the organization, etc. I couldn't stand them and there were a lot.

Be honest post do all posters on this site believe the bible is 100% or has flaws?
by booker-t inwe in the psychology/sociology field have a saying "when people protest too loud usually they are overcompensating".
i did not understand that when i first started studying psychology but now i understand it completely and it is so true.
when i hear someone constantly bashing something or someone such as gay bashing or ethnic bashing or religion bashing sometimes i wonder what are they hiding.

It's a myth that the bible is the unmistakable, inerrant word of god completely in harmony with itself. It is loaded with contradictions, factually and otherwise. Many inconsistencies and obviously tons of fairy tales. These are easily researched and discovered today.

Jehovah's Witnesses and "winter decorations"
by Lynnie inso how many jw's do you know that do "winter decorations" instead of "holiday decorations"?
i have a cousin that is upbaptized but very much on board with the jw's but somehow snowmen and pine boughs are okay to decorate the house as long as there is no tree.
have anyone of you heard or seent his practice?

I always strung lights of different colors inside and made little pine cone villages. Also used Xmasy potpourri inside. I would string clear lights on my patio. One time some witnesses came over and kind of sneered at everything and made some sarcastic comment. I told them if it was stumbling them then I didn't blame them if they wanted to leave.

I have nothing left in the tank, I need help
by Yondaime ini dont have the willpower to attend meetings anymore.
i'm literally on the sound system list every week.
i'm either reading on sunday or tuesday, praying on tuesday nites, adjusting mics, passing mics, or working the sound system, or doing last minute parts for the service meeting.

When I was doing sound, I hated it. I just wanted to show up at the meeting, sit down and then go home. I started doing less field service, turning in low numbers and in turn I was taken off sound. Nobody even told me about it or said anything. In one sense, I was pissed nobody tried to encourage me but relieved I could just sit through the meeting and be left alone.

Birthday party envy maybe?
by sparrowdown inott wedding anniversary celebrations, what's that all about?.

In Southern California we had the most disgustingly elaborate celebrations. Weddings, anniversaries, graduations and baptisms topped the list. I'm talking DJ's, slide shows, videos celebrating the person, catering, etc. I once showed up at an anniversary party where everyone was wearing tuxedos and evening gowns. GAG! What the hell is the difference between that and a birthday party.

I'm sorry but I feel bad for this guy. That little girl is acting horribly and the parent is worse for egging her on. If it had been me, I would have had to fight the impulse to slap her little mouth.
