saying jehovahs-witness.com seems like a long winded way..

The only thing that kept me sane! I remember looking up the forum as a lurker from my iPhone 3G, I was the only one who could properly adjust the mixer and amp, so I was in charge 95% of the time, and when there were trouble the other 5% of the time they called me up from the public to solve the issues hahahaha :)

Just returned from South America

i just came back from visiting family in south america (will keep the name of the country out for now) and i was shocked by the amount of jws i saw on the street.

keep in mind that most countries in sa have been under military rule until the early 80s, with the general fear and mindset sticking around until the late 90s, even when the military was gone and democracy re established.

jw were not around when i lived there.

Mmm.. I can tell from here, Chile, that that literature "carts" or "stands" are everywhere downtown... So, I went to a new year party on December 31 night, my GF and I went out of the satanic-disco at 10AM on Jan 1st, and guess what... There were JW "preaching" with the stands in the downtown, the streets were empty!!! But they were giving testimony! I think it's all about getting more visible, at least here I can't say we have a big time growth...

Is Watchtower's stance against education only for North American witnesses

i was reading on a european ex jw forum where some feel that watchtower's railing against higher education is primarily for north america issue.

this is due that many in usa and canada leave home to leave on campus.

it was mentioned that many young european jw attend universities and its not frowned on.. i found this odd because i heard what morris and losch said about education in italy.

It seems to be a cultural difference like the "beard thing" in the nordic countries, here un Chile, the young are VERY frown upon entering "Higer Education", brothers and sisters would tell you things like "and how many years that would take, oh I HOPE YOU HAVE THE TIME BEFORE THIS SYSTEM ENDS", "you better look for a non-medical field because if you choose a medical carreer you'll have no job in the new system"...

well, i have been lurking on this site for several months and i recently decided to join as a member.

i have made several observations and would like to make a few comments.. first, i am perplexed by the attitude of many on this site that are either former or active (but apostate) jws.

they seem to have a strong hatred for the wts and also for rank and file jws.

How to disassociate? HELP

i'm looking for a way to disassociate myself, now i'm thinking to make a "public declaration" before a civil law notary (i'm in chile), but i need some ideas about what to put in that declaration, i would like to look the "ks" book to cover all possible sides and make a solid declaration... any experiences?

my plan is to make that legal declaration that would say "i'm no longer consider myself a jehovah's witness nor want to be linked to any of the wt organizations or legal entities, and want all my personal records to be erased"... any orientation will be helpful :).

Thank you for all your opinions, as a background I can tell you that I'm a born in but only mother and father are witnesses, the rest of my family don't. I have a few friends inside but they know that I already DONT believe in the cult anymore and are even willing to keep in contact with me if I get DF o DA. My family broke up a year ago in a very very painful and bitter way so elders know I have a worldly girlfriend and I'm inactive... I'm more and more involved with my university friends and to be honest I feel ready for the final step... Well I'm thinking of making that official declaration, and keep it to myself and wait (months, even years) to show it to the elders and get them to give the "announce", It can be possible that I even won't show it at all, but making it will be by some reason a relief for me... I'll tell you what happens :) thank you again, It's been almost 2-3 year of lurking before strating to post :)

I'm no longer attending, I'm working to finish my 4th year of dentistry, have a nice girlfriend, but I don't want to be "inactive", I need that satisfaction of "hitting first" and made my point...

Between the sword and the wall

a brief forewords; my family "exploded" 1-2 years ago, and my parents divorced, the hard way, mom tried to suicide, little sister (15) also (she is "fully wordly" now and very damaged psychologically).

father left and took my sister with him.

i'm "inactive", and dating with a wordly girl with my mom "approval".

:) it went better than expected, a little step in my "recovery", felt very different from the last meetings I remember...
