@cofty
I believe the bible is the word of God. If you read the Bible, the hope is composed of:
- kingdom of God coming
- immortality for believers
This is what I believe!!
do any of you ex-jw's still believe in god?
even with the new rebranding/softening of this religion, i still don't see how people can believe in him.
the god of the old testimate is an angry murderer who approved rapes and slavery and killed thousands of men, women and children.

i just read an email from a friend, and she shared some very interesting emails from her friends about information on changes now happening at the bethels around the world.
here is the email: .
---------------------------------thanks sally, jesus is directing the org and all decisions and instructions to us may not seem practical from now on, neither will we understand the reasonings behind many of the changes that the organization makes.
first off, i'd like to state that i currently have "privileges" in the congregation and volunteer at bethel on and off throughout the year.
that's as much information as i will currently give about myself.. starting off, i think something big is coming in the form of lawsuits and bad pr.
they seem to be batting down the hatches in preparation for something the last few years and even more so the last few months.
@ thedepressedsoul
Thank you for your insight. Very interesting. I'm also looking forward to see how things will develop.
I am still a jw, but inactive ... I think I will stay a little more to see how things go..

I think the kingdom of God where Jesus will rule is a true doctrine, just that Jesus will be here on earth. I do not believe the purpose of God is to transform this planet in a paradise. I believe the purpose of God is to give immortality to some people, to people who believe and love God.
Jesus preached 2 things: the kingdom and immortality. Not eternal life as a flesh and blood human being as the jw's say, immortality as a new kind of human being, the new creation, a type of human being with unperishable bodies, like Jesus was after resurrection.

I do, absolutely. studied a lot and the Bible is more clear to me now.
I think that the jw's are close but not the whole truth, they have some things that still comes from false doctrine.
They are right about no trinity, about the soul, about the kingdom on earth, but there are many other doctrines where they are somewhere between the mainstream christianity and the Bible.
a good source just just told me that at morning worship today that the governing body announced that a total of 1600 bethelites will be let get go and not transferred to warwich when the last property is sold in brooklyn and all kingdom hall building projects are on hold for at least a year so that all the focus will be on the preaching work.
please, who can provide an intelligent rebuttal to the following illustration?
i always thought it was bullet-proof:.
"if your doctor directs you to 'abstain from alcohol' would you be ok to have it injected into your veins rather than drink it?
I meant they did not want the christians to come in conflict with jews.
the letter that watchtower free put up was very interesting.
here is my impression.. the watchtower is becoming more and more geared towards idiots.
the midweek meeting has a stupid name, and the parts sound equally dumb.
Mille,
Maybe the stupid don't have money, but they are many, and they look good on statistics. And statistics pump up the egos of the gov. body.
... but, they fail to take note of one important detail.. i believe that if we are going to have any chance of reasoning with a jw about blood, this is the place we need to begin.. don't try to convince them that it was only a dietary law.
it wasn't, and they will never go along with it.. don't tell them that saving a life is more important than obeying a law, even a seemingly trivial one.
they take pride in obedience.
Here is my theory on blood and I know it might sound crazy to some. But as Paul said: things that the eyes did not see and the ears did not hear about.
I believe the new creation, the new man, the immortal ones are humans who do not function on blood.
After Jesus was ressurected he said to Thomas, touch me, see that is me, a spirit does not have bones and flesh. He did not say blood and flesh. Plus his blood was given for our redemption. Not that I think that the new creation / new man has normal bones and flesh, I actually think they have a body of another kind of matter, an imperishable matter.
And I also think the new body functions by holy spirit. And needs nothing else. Holy spirit is simbolozed by water in the Bible, this is why Jesus talked about living water.
The life of the old human is in the blood. The spirit is the life of the new human/ the new immortal creation.
I believe the blood of Jesus meant what we all know it mean, but the body, simbolized by bread, meant this new body, this new immortal human race, ammong which Jesus is the first one. And he now has the power to transform others, and he will, when he comes back.
This is why Jesus was saying we have to "eat" his body - he meant we have to become like him, with a similar body, of the same kind, of the same matter as his.
as i've mentioned from time to time, i'm a retired accountant.
i have tried many times to come up with some logical, sound business reason why the wtbs has made the big changes in its financial arrangements: taking the congregations savings, the monthly donations per congregation etc.
i finally came up with the answer.. the leadership of the watchtower society is batshit crazy.
You can tell they are bluffing!!!
They should call it a bluff! Just admitt they have no guidance, they have no inspiration. They are just a gang of average men who were misguided by their egos.
