I know of an Elder that was removed for attending his DFed sons wedding. I would guess if it was a religious ceremony in a church and you are baptized, you could be called on the mat. For a brother with privileges supporting (attending) the union of a baptized JW to an unbeliever, could also have his privileges called into question.

Another Elder Steps Down
by jookbeard inthe wonders of facebook have accidently made my paths cross with the sister of this particular elder who served in my circuit (london) for many years and would have probably been made an elder at the very beginning of the arrangment in the early 1970's he knew my father very well, spoke at ca's visting speaker etc, and was a member of the hlc, he resigned a few years ago, he was a real hard core make no bones about it and would have been one of the very last you's expect to step down and leave, just goes to show..

JW elder is the shittiest volunteer job ever! I've seen alot of burned out ones. I've also seen alot of neglected families of elders, trying to do it all. The scrutiny is insane, they hold the title over your head like an exe. I loved the experience on here of the elder who handed in a signed but undated resignation letter and told them to put a date on it, if and when he ever failed to qualify. Genius!

11/30/2014 WT Study - take care of those who are all used up.
by OneEyedJoe inwas bored during today's indoctrination lesson, and you guys weren't generating enough content to keep me entertained, so i looked agreed at next week's a bit.
basically the point of the hour lesson is that once the society has completely used someone up, they're to be dumped on next of kin (or anyone who'll take 'em) to take care of 'em.
obviously the wts can't dip into any of the millions/billions that they're sitting on to pay for the support of ailing missionaries - they've got that money earmarked for new cult compounds and paying off victims of the pedophiles that they've protected over the years.. just another in a recent string of articles paying lip service to taking care of those that have given their life to the cult while they do absolutely nothing from their ivory towers.

Rank and file bethel workers who can't perform are given the bums rush. How do expect joe unwashed publisher to fare? You can bet your bottom dollar, that when tight pants tony starts crapping his depends, some lucky sisters will be on 24 hour ass wipe duty.

Begging, guilting, and now real estate (payed for by donations) shell game fleecing is their only source of revenue. They are a charity in name only, no help for the poor, sick, or homeless, not even for their own members. Just do a google news search for Jehovah, every second hit is about child molestation and law suits. It's no wonder they are trying to rebrand to jw.org!

I've heard "on your back" as in incapacitated. Or the old mechanics joke about one of the two jobs you can make a living laying on your back

Is shunning an expression of love or just a place for the shunner to hide?
by cha ching into three people in my family, disfellowshipping / shunning is just a tool the wtbs uses to hide what really happened.... they don't want people to 'see behind the curtain.'.

In the case of apostasy its a survival tool. For fornication and such its a control tool. I would say if shunning was left up to the individual most would still shun, although selectively.

No comment on tight dresses from TM3. Gotta keep those WTB MS motivated!
by aintenoughwiskey inthis is sexist, sisters can strut around in painted on dresses.
i recall one elders wife (she looked fantastic by the way) with a very tight form fitting dress that would have showed a birth mark, let alone a panty line.
none was revealed!

I would say the wacky legacy doctrines, and time suck demands of the cult act as a filter to the stable and sane. Not to mention the 100% prophecy failure rate.
