I wasn't sure for awhile but now I can say I'm definitely NOT going for the 1st time in my life! Very freeing. No one has given us an invite but an old friend did say if I didn't want to go to my old hall I could go with her to her's but that's all she said she will say on the subject and leave it up to me. Which is very nice of her but I won't be taking her up on it. I don't want people thinking I must agree with it and I certainly don't want to give family false hope. I would never want to expose my children to it either.

I have not long joined instagram and can't believe all of the JW bs on there! I have noticed some of the remaining JW "friends" I have always put that they are JW's in a little write up about themselves along with a jw.org link.
I even found a page for jw models haha people who were good looking enough to be models but can't be because they are faithful jdubs lol! So sad.

Goodness I feel for you and your daughter! Well done on you both for standing up to this monster and getting some kind of justice. How hard it must of been to have your family treat you like that. I'm in agreement with JWdaughter it's not a long enough sentence. Abusers should be locked away for life.

CrytoJesus - I don't know if you are familier with this website www.evidenceministries.org but this guy is born again and make's it his life's ministry to help JW's and Mormans see how their belief system is flawed and help them see they are in a cult etc. It may be some help to you in your quest.
I am not born again in fact I have no idea what I am right now, but I do know reading the blog he has on the site "Conversation with a JW Elder" really helped me in my waking up process. I made me think for myself a lot more and question things. I find he does this in a very respectful and clever way so you may get some good tips. It's a very interesting read.

Christmas markets - apparently fine for JW's to attend

our friend an ex jw has just returned from a famous christmas market in germany, now my husband mentioned this to his mum as they have connections there.
she got all excited about how amazing the german christmas markets are there and how she would of def gone to one this year if she had the time!

LisaRose- Its not that I am mad at them for having a bit of free thinking and being less cult like thats great but I get annoyed when they feel they have to justify everything they do or if some other JW is doing it it's fine or if not they just do it secretively etc. I think if they can use free thinking about a christmas market why cant they be more open minded about other things? Some obvisouly have the capicty for seeing through the "religion". Since being on this site I have noticed a lot more of the hypocrisy regarding the JWs and celebrations such as what other posters have mentioned above. If they are so desperate to celebrate these things you would think it would make them question the societys dubious reasonings as to why they can't.
Also I was just annoyed with her at the time and needed to vent. A couple days earlier she had been trying to pry into what I was allowing my little one to do regarding Christmas at nursery and we don't even go to meetings, but then apparently Christmas food and markets are fine..... I just find it odd!

German markets are the best no doubt!
I was just really wound up earlier and wanted to vent, since leaving I find it all these rules they make up about every little thing so STUPID. Plus I'm sure you have guessed that I just find my mother-in-law annoying!
I remember a while back there was a talk at an assembly I think on being totally seperate from the "world" and this would include not indulging in festive foods as we wouldn't want to stumble others. No one I know unless they were braindead listened to this guidence from the FDS.
We will be getting a new baby for crimbo :) so no proper celebrations for us this year, however next year - cant wait!
