TheMark: I think the commission will go easy on him to save face, Jackson's especially.
Oh. Are you, by chance, American?
The Royal Commission in Australia has no need to "save face". Their face is doing just fine.
Losing face would be the scenario you describe.

TheMark: I'll be back Friday to apologize if I was wrong.
But, what about your accusation of bribes being accepted by the Royal Commission? What about an apology for that? That is a very strong accusation that has nothing to do with pessimism - it is a slanderous statement.

A JW talk about the Governing Body - what JWs are taught about the GB
by OrphanCrow inthis is a youtube uploaded in 2009 that has a talk about the governing body given to jws.. "governing body".
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kwjm5d9m1lm&index=5&list=pl2vkk1cclbi8xcdxgygijzu9_w6nzx8mt.
the speaker tells the jws that the gb takes such good responsible care of all of them.. the speaker also speaks of a personal experience with bro.

Yes, the speaker's style is pretty slick. Hypnotic. An appeal to the emotions, for sure.
He keeps emphasizing how the GB "are responsible for you". And, he uses the terms Governing Body and Faithful and Discete Slave interchangably.
Any JW listening to this talk would come away with the idea that the GB are the ones in charge - regardless of whether that is true in practice - the message is what counts. It is the belief that the GB calls the shots that is important to the JWs themselves.
And, the JWs are being told that the GB will look after them - that the GB will take responsibilty for each and every one of the JWs.
Well, we shall see if that holds true or not after Jackson appears this week for the Royal Commission.

If you could ask Geoffrey Jackson one question that he had to answer what would it be?
by jwleaks inwhat question would you ask geoffrey jackson, as a member of the governing body of jehovah's witnesses, to answer?

I hope that the Royal Commission gets into how the WTS itself is actually organized and structured. It would be great if Jackson revealed who the members of the WTS really are, if the WTS is made up of only JWs, and how a person gets included into the WT Society itself as a member. Who are the 300-500 men who make up the Watchtower Society? What powers do they have?
Jackson should also be asked if the membership of the Society has the power to overturn the GB's decisions.
The distinction between the JW r&f and the JWs who actually have membership in the Watchtower Society itself, has yet to be addressed by the Commission.

TheMark: The WT will come out smelling like roses as the prosecution accepts the bribes.
That is a strong accusation. And one that the Royal Commission does not deserve levied against it.
There has been no indication of bribes or corruption on the part of the RC to this point and accusations of such are unfounded.

Why won't they simply change policy on sex offenders? Will they?
by punkofnice inwhy won't they (the wbt$ head honchos), simply change policy on sex offenders?
will they?..especially after the arc for eg?
it seems that with all the bad press and now the arc among other institutions that are exposing the wbt$ for a haven for paedophiles, why hasn't the wbt$ simply changed it's insane policy?.

marvin: The documents released to the Royal Commission has a change. Now elders are instructed to tell parents that so-and-so is a "predator" and for that reason they should not let their children associate with the individual.
But does not the WTS retain the right to determine who is a "predator" or not? Do they not say that not everyone who is a child sex abuser is a "predator"?
I question the WTS' ability or capacity to determine who is a predator or not.

punk: I just wonder if it's only we ex-JJWs that are interested in the ARC though.
It may seem like that, at least in the public eye.
However, I am pretty confident that organizations like the Catholic Church are keeping a close eye on these proceedings. What happens with these hearings will impact other organizations besides the JWs. Not only that, but "worldy" people in the legal profession will be watching closely.
Give it time. The results of this hearing may have global impact yet. The WTS is, after all, a global organization. And, with the availiblity of information so easily accessible, things can move quite rapidly in our cyber based world. It isn't 1918 anymore where court transcripts and such take so long to get into the public domain - it happens instantly now.

Has the Royal Commission website removed Geoffery Jackson from schedule?

DataDog: 1) Complete honesty by Jackson.
Impossible. Jackson has no truth to tell. His "truth" is built on lies - he cannot be honest because he does not have the capacity to do so.
2) A frustrated and thoroughly indignant/bat-shit crazy rant by Jackson that is mirrored on the Internet for all eternity! I want it broadcast through space! I want an alien civilization to do a face-palm when they watch it.
Oh yeah. I would love to see that. A couple of the other WTS goons almost lost it when the women were questioning them. The anger and frustration over having to answer to women was so evident.
Jackson has been described as a "nice", amicable guy and it may very well be that his nice personality is a front for an entirely different kind of character. I have met many "nice" people who turn into snakes the moment they are challenged. Sometimes those nice people are very angry people under their smiles.
jw07: Screw the court session. For Geoffrey Jackson they should turn the questioning session into a JW style 'judicial committee' and lock him in a room with Justice McClellan, Justice Jennifer Coate, and Angus Stewart.
Perfect. And they could bring in every single victim that has come forward so far to give testimony against him. Maybe the victims could all come in at once and Jackson could see what 1800+ people look like - let them all face him at the same time.
I, too, would pay to see that.

done4good: 2. Once the two witness rule changes, it provides the slippery slope that would cause the whole judicial process the organization uses to fall apart.
Exactly. The entire judicial system of the JWs is flawed to the core. They brag about it as though they are "keeping their organization clean" with little regard for how the process abuses human rghts.
The victims have the status of "witness' and nothing more than that. The victim's only role is to find the accused guilty. Victims are nothing more than that - just a witness to the 'sin'.
The WTS goons are ill equipped to collect evidence and pass judgement upon people that they think they have control over. The entire judicial system should fall apart - it is a system that fosters abuse and disregards human rights. It should be exposed for what it is - a patriarchal system of oppression and control that has no place in civilized society.
I am extremely interested in the outcome of this hearing because of the potential impact that it could have on similar systems of internal judicial processes that are practiced in many religions. The JWs claim, after all, that their judicial system is based upon Judaic law. This hearing may put a chink in not only the JW religion, but also other religions that use old outdated bible "laws" to control and abuse their members.
Even though this hearing is not meant to be a theological debate, it cannot help but be one when the WTS claims divine authority for bible based law.
And, once the two witness rule gets trashed, and the WTS judicial sytem along with it, the next "law" to fall will be the blood law. That will will fall easily due to the efforts of many people who have already shown it to be non-biblical. And without the judicial system, the WTS loses control over their members in making those all important life decisions concerning blood.
I am thrilled with the Royal Commission. I never thought that in my lifetime I would see "Jehovah's representative" have to appear at a public hearing to justify the WTS' abusive policies to the rest of the world.
