flipper: I don't understand the hesitance on the other posters here in accepting this story. Thousands of JW's have died from not receiving life saving blood transfusions throughout the years. Why on earth would this Facebook poster be making this story up ? It sounds legitimate to me . Seems as if he is sincerely mournful over the loss of life of this dear lady.

Hundreds, thousands, and more...have died and not been documented in the "reliable" sources that the skeptics demand.

Just think about Eloise Dupuis - the young mother in Quebec who recently died after childbirth. The one and only reason that her death was documented in "reliable" sources was because her nonJW aunt made sure it was.

And then there was Mirlande Cadet. She died within days of Eloise but her death would have gone unnoticed except for all the attention that Eloise's death was getting. Mirlande would not have made it into the "reliable" sources except for Eloise's aunt starting the rumbles in the media and then a reporter getting alerted to the other "insignificant" blood death.

And how many more? How many each year?

That is what makes this story significant - it is one of the very few blood refusal deaths that do make it into the news...even if that news source isn't as reliable as most want it to be.

Guess what? I had an uncle die because of the blood ban. His death didn't make it into "reliable" news sources. But he still died.

I don't need "reliable" news sources to shout out that the WT has claimed another young life.

william tyndale was a bible translator in the early 16th century.

i always knew that the org held men like tyndale, john hus and john wycliffe in high regard.

Well then it is time that changed. Good thing there are ads being placed in newspapers that draw attention to the JWs inability to handle sex offenders. As "insignificant" as they are, a banished JW sex offender can do a lot of damage in the larger community.

As was pointed out in that ARC, which you claim hardly anyone knows about, simply kicking a sex offender out of the hallowed kingdom hall does nothing to protect the community that offender has been banished to.

darkspliver: You really should read their annual report - 190 pages - I'm sure you'll appreciate it and how far ranging and comprehensive the data is and how it is broken down

Your issue is with the FDA, not me.

Maybe send that SHOT report to the FDA with your concerns? Maybe they will re-adjust their position after hearing your evaluation of the issue.

*by the way - I am familiar with the SHOT report

It doesn't. I didn't claim it did. That reference was not for the six sigma statement. That reference is for the real truth about transfusion risks. I thought you could use those facts.

My comments are derived from an FDA document where exactly what I said was stated by, I believe, the person responsible for blood transfusion safety for the US.
I based my comment on what he said - he was the one who made that claim in an FDA document discussing the safety of artificial blood. I am pretty sure it is the same document where the US Army (or was it the Navy?) was trying to convince the FDA that the Jehovah's Witnesses were the ideal population on which to continue testing artificial blood products.
I will look for that document if you are really interested in reading it. If not...please don't waste my time.

this is a little long, but stick with me.. if you recall, when the building work was in full swing at the new lakefront villa (warwick), wt was having workers come and they would put them up for a year, or more, while they were providing "volunteer services".

with that, and the impending need for hundreds and hundreds of new khs in the usa territory, the congregations were abuzz with the need for "continued construction volunteers".

recently, as many of you know, wt headquarters has sent pretty much everyone home, and is no longer needing workers at the new warwick site, as the building is mostly complete, with the dedication coming up later this year.

tor1500: No most JW's are not who they are in the hall...they send their representatives to the hall. The real person is when you just drop by the house..but again they can put on then....I say be a fly on the wall and you would really see who they really are....

You mean to say that the JWs aren't as honest as they portray themselves to be? That they can't even be honest about who they are let alone be honest about anything else?
