in a recent canadian case i've seen (on line video in threads on here) the wt lawyer says that disfellowshipping isn't actual shunning but only a cutting off of spiritual association.

but what case is it and is there a transcript available on line?.

any other "good" examples from the point of view that it proves wt speak out of both sides of their mouths?.

Oh, I suspect the judges know that.

We will know more when the judgement comes down

I should think that it would be in the best interest of Randy Wall to inform the court of David's dishonesty.

And I suspect that will happen when and if the case gets turned back to the Alberta courts. Keep in mind that this Supreme Court hearing is just to determine if Randy's case will be heard in Alberta

If the Supreme Court overturns the WTS' appeal, I think that Randy and his team have a whole lot in their arsenal that will come out in the lower court

If we just suddenly start talking to DFed people again and use the Canada court video as our argument, what would happen?

scratchme: I saw the video, and the commentary of that person towards the former JW is rather ignorant and as judgmental as the WT is. Who is she to judge?

I agree. Totally.

Not only is she ignorant about Mr. Wall's alleged behavior, she is also pretty ignorant about what the case is actually about. Typically, she just comes to her own conclusions about what the case entails and then trots off to make her own, self-centered report about what was said in court by Gnam.

She made this court case into being about her and her concerns rather than about what this court case really is addressing - the lack of natural justice and the lack of procedural fairness in the WT's judicial system.

How far has this case proceeded?

The Supreme Court has heard an appeal of a case that originated in an Alberta court.

The WTS has lodged the appeal after the Alberta Court of Appeal ruled that R. Wall could have his case heard by the Alberta Court.

We are waiting for the judgement from the Supreme Court to find out if the case will be heard in Alberta. Judgement hasn't been published yet.

where would I find in writing the statement of the WT lawyer

If you are looking for what the lawyer said during the hearing (on the video posted), I don't think you will find it in writing. I believe you have to wait until the transcript is released and to the best of my knowledge, that hasn't happened yet.

FallGuy: Is that lawyer confirmed as being a JW, and not just a "hired hand?" (just to clarify)

David Guan is a Jehovah's Witness (he has been identified as an elder but I am not sure about that - but, of course he is...a special man like that would have some sort of authoritative position in his congregation)

Pro-Blood Transfusion Directives for the Ex-JW

hey everyone, i have a question... all of my family members are jehovah's witnesses, save my son and me.

if something were to happen to me and i lost consciousness, my parents would be the best of kin called on to make medical decisions.

how do i ensure that if a transfusion is needed, hospital/doctors are clear that i do indeed want a transfusion and that my parents cannot override that decision?

Cimarrona, it's called "next of kin" and the next of kin would only be involved if you were unable to communicate.

With that said - do talk to your medical provider and make sure that your and your son's care details that you will accept all blood products.

Depending on where you live, becoming a blood donor might solve some of your problems. In some places, a person can get a blood donor card to carry - that donor card would identify you right away as accepting blood and not only that, it types your blood too!

Nation of Islam 1914 belief

i did not know before that the nation of islam had a 1914 belief that was akin to that of jws.. i thought this was interesting is all.. does anyone know whether this is a current teaching of theirs?

Stop harassing jws

we want people to learn ttatt.

we have numerous resources online to draw jws in so that they will wake up.

however, i've noted some radical methods that have been used by fellow exjws, and quite frankly, this must stop.

Terry is to be commended for his calm, rational and stalwart stand he took. Well done. And how many years did it take for him to arrive at that calm, rational, quietly mature (well done!) place where he could do that?

Ah yes...tell all those dissatisfied and confused and hurting exJWs that they must stay quiet - stuff all that hurt and anger - own that hurt and anger, don't release it. Not until you are mature and smart and calm and all those wonderful things that an exJW who has been out for years and years can display.

From the rooftops. From the bridges. From the mountain peaks and beyond

Leave that rational, mature, calm approach for those ex-elders who have the aplomb, smarts and emotional surety to do so. Good for them. They have done their deprogramming and they are strong, smart and healthy. They will score high on their 'spiritual' and moral evaluations when they aren't scoring all the rest of you - like they have always done.

silentbuddha: I hung out with one of them playing basketball and a few months later invited me to a post-family study watchtower study. I went and while I was there they had all of these extra books (not WT literature) and they were cross-referencing with this and that. Way more than I was ready for. And they were all calling each other "god". I was like WTF.
Some of them ended up being kicked-out. They were combining 5% and Watchtower teachings and NOI stuff. I will admit it was the first time I actually learned that the NOI and the founder William Fard Muhammad used Charles Taze Russell teachings as the bases for early NOI doctrine. WTF
