Got the furnace going now. Had to get a guy to crawl up on the roof and knock the ice off the furnace vents

For one thing, I started reading at a really young age and I would use a dictionary a lot. I found out the meaning of the word "hypocrite" and when I looked around me at the KH, that is what I saw. What I saw was not what I was told it was.
And Armageddon was coming in four years - it was 1971 and I figured I had a LOT of living to get in before Jehovah killed me in 1975 for not wanting to hang out with those horribly hypocritical people I knew from the KH. I decided I would rather die at Armageddon than be a JW
It would take many years more before I was able to de-program. I bought James Penton's book in 1987 and that is when I finally realized that I might live a little longer than what the WT had told me I would

we are cleaning and clearing out accumulated stuff and i pointed out that there is the cd-rom library now and that the society has made revisions and really doesn't want us to be reading the old stuff.
she said that even though there have been changes to the teachings, the wrong understanding served its' purpose at the time.

I think this is common. My granny was the same - she would faithfully receive (and pay for) her monthly "magazine placement" for years past the time when she was capable of going door to door to get rid of them
I have often wondered what happened to all those millions and billions of "the world's most distributed magazine" and I think that most of those magazines simply ended up being accumulated in closets, basements, garages of JWs. Sort of like those people who sign up for MLMs (Amway, etc) and all they get out of it is a lifetime supply of soap products that nobody will take off their hands for them

All Other Information: My father was born in San Diego at Doctor's Hospital Point Loma, which no longer exists. This was a closed adoption that took place at the time of his birth. I believe his birth mother was 17 years old and is possibly of Swedish, Norwegian and / or French descent. She was described as looking just like my father (blue eyes and blonde hair). I believe that her mother may have been a member of the Jehovah's Witness Church of San Diego. His birth father may have been 18-22 years old ? at the time of my father's birth. He may have been at university in the area--he was "sent away" to school when my father was born. I believe his father was a well-known neurologist or cardiologist practicing in the San Diego area. They may have been German, or of German descent. (Update) My father Marc was 6'2" tall, with blue eyes and blond hair. He weighed between 175-180 lbs.

how irrational the society could be was experienced by the sister-in-law of ex-bethelite william (bill) cetnar when .... at the suggestion of her veterinarian, she had a blood transfusion given to her poodle to prolong its life.
she couldn't believe bill [cetnar]when he told her that the society would say she had violated god's law.
CC: She was told that she should keep the cat under restraint and be more careful in handling it.
Well, they were sort of right about that. But they missed a good opportunity to actually present her without the correct facts that a cat eating a mouse (and it's blood) would run a risk of catching a disease or picking up a parasite.
A cat that eats mice needs regular de-worming
But, to take the position that she should restrain the cat for the purpose of obeying a dusty old biblical 'law' about human beings abstaining from animal blood is borderline lunacy. Hell, no. It is lunacy
