Do you have JW-related dreams (nightmares)?

i guess it's never going away: daytime carryovers of jw-related stuff seeping into my dreams.. the majority of these dreams take place at conventions but with really weird trappings.

last night i dreamed i arrived at the site with no books, no lunch, nothing but my car keys.

Coco, there is a theory that when you dream of vehicles, that the vehicle is a metaphor for either your life or the life of the person the vehicle is attached to.

Using that interpretation, I would say that you view the guy (representing all the JWs you don't know) as having an outdated life. Vintage. Old and outdated. Filled with baggage. Nice but no longer up to today's standards.

I am not sure about the view of your life tho...maybe it is simply that your life is classy (classic) but you also left it behind in order to attend the convention (but it is waiting for you when you leave that environment)

Calling Cofty and others regarding evolution

so i have started down the path of trying to understand evolution, and to get the linear lies that the jws planted in my head out of it.

i bought an audiobook called "evolution: what the fossils say and why it matters" by donald prothero.

i heard it recommended on an atheist podcast that i listened to.

Actually, it is the male population that will exhibit more of certain genetic illnesses (hemophilia, for one)

The female will often be the one to carry genetic illnesses and the male will acquire it

This is because defects in the X chromosome can be overcome in the female with the other x chromosome making up for the defect. However, in the male, if they inherit an x chromosome that carries the genetic illness, they don't have another x chromosome to pick up the job and correct for the defective chromosone

Males are XY and their Y chromosome won't have the ability to overcome the x defect

in common with other apocalyptic writings, such as daniel and 1 enoch, john’s letter employs vivid, memorable imagery.

as with the other elements of his apocalypse (revelation), john draws on existing sources for his material.. meanings inferred from the images need to keep the following firmly in mind:.

1. the symbols had to have meaning for and be clearly understood by his immediate intended hearers.. 2. john intended that these images encourage those hearers to “overcome”, then and there.. 3. john anticipated that the coming of jesus was imminent, “soon”.. it is my belief that the images were intended to depict earthly opposition (rome and apostate jews) as well as heavenly opposition (wars in heaven involving satan).. the writers/compilers of daniel also employed vivid imagery.

God is a symbol, an image, and an allegory

It doesn't matter if you quote some obscure biblical text...God is still a symbol, etc etc. That is where "he" resides - in metaphorical language
