just wanted to introduce myself

i've been a lurker for quite some time and enjoy the forum.

i've reached a point in life where i don't argue ideologies anymore so i don't have much to say.

i've been out for decades and believe i've been mostly de-cultabilized (if that's even a word).. my family is still in and i haven't had contact with them in years.

But that's okay...you are now in 'cult-land' and made up words are acceptable in this world.

I have been out for decades as well and yes, the JW religion has certainly changed - however, the bottom line is the same - hook 'em in and take da money. But it still will sometimes amaze me that with all the information out there, some people will choose such a bad source for their information.

Ah, well, there will always be those who just can't help it. It is the same dynamics at play as happens in abusive domestic situations - too much invested to let go compounded by the psychopathic nature of the organization itself. Classic Stockholm Syndrome. It really isn't the victim's fault - it happens in the 'outside' world as well with many different types of relationships.

can somebody put it in this separate thread - it's important.. he says how billions of innocent children and other inoffensive people will not get to enjoy their ice cream, as they are about to be annihilated.

I didn't have a program available to consult. I haven't attended for over 40 years so I am not up on who says who - I just went by the image presented with the voice.

Sorry if I sound rude, but......are you Catholic? I have never heard a JW use the word 'excommunication'.

I am confused. I thought that term was a Catholic term. JWs use the made-up word 'disfellowshipping' instead of 'excommunicating'.

Is this not a fine line that the GB is walking?

Correct me if I am wrong, but it appears like Losch is trying to distance the Jehovah's Witness 'religion' from the Watchtower Society in order to protect the WTS assets.

But - doesn't this run the WTS into tax problems? If the WTS is 'at arm's length'...how long does that arm have to be before those other 'legal entities' owned by the WTS no longer are protected by religious exemption?

Yes, it is in Tony's talk. He first mentions ice cream at 00:37.

He is speaking of all those people who aren't JWs:

...all they have is a little bit of joy; all they have is a little bit of ice cream...

And then he goes on to tell everybody how Jehovah is better than ice cream.

A few years ago, I found some youtube videos that had been made by a German exJW. I really liked his videos, both the ones he did about the German JWs and the other videos he posted (Im Himmel and Pompfinewra are incredible). I was very disappointed when I discovered that his videos had been removed from youtube over copyright violations.

I am pretty excited to find out that I can still access his material.

I thought that our German members will be able to appreciate these - jessussirach's library of videos, photos and text is extensive. I am sure it will keep you busy for some time. I only wish I could read and speak German.

Here is something I am curious about.

Do the Watchtower men have their own bible they bring in to court to lay their hand on and swear to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth?

Do they use the court bible or do they bring their Silver Sword to court with them?
