  Watchtower and Emoji's - your thoughts

  on the jw.org website, the watchtower is sending out a strong warning with regard to emoji's & flirting.. my personal view is that the org is now trying to micro-manage just about every aspect of people's lives!.

  These new worksheets telling girls how to use emoji's are a clear example of how the WT's policies are responsible for creating a climate of victimization.

  The worksheets, in effect, are part of the "grooming package" that comes along with JW membership. By placing the responsibility for others' reactions on the girls for sending the wrong message, the WT has silenced the victims before they can even speak by telling them that any unwanted attention is their fault. The girls sent the wrong message. The girls behaved wrongly.

  For an organization that has to appear in front of the Royal Commission again in March, to explain what they are doing to change their policies in order to better protect victims, these worksheets could be very damaging*.

  I presumed it was the official court record, I got to it through the official Washington Court Website- it's not a newspaper article written by a journalist, it is a court document.

  Okay. Public court document.

  Focusing on a moot point like 'heaven' is a red herring

  Just because the JWs will get their shirt in a knot over a doctrinal point doesn't mean it is important in the context it was presented

  This is something that so many JWs (and exJWs) love to pounce on - the inability of outsiders to stay on top of, or to learn, the weirdness of the Jehovah's Witness doctrine.

  My reaction to this is...why tf should they have to get all the f***ing stupid details of JW theology correct? The JW theology concerning heaven is such a minor point - the only ones who have difficulty with this are the ones who have the need to see the JW religion as unique

  This article is written for the public - the public doesn't care if "heaven" is the promise the cult gives their members or if "eternal life on earth" is the promise that is held out as the carrot.

  Getting 'heaven' mixed up with 'life forever on earth' is a detail that is apparent only to those who think it matters. It doesn't.

  JWs in Russia- "Pray for those in prison"

  last night at the midweek meeting was a part titled "pray for those in prison" or something like that.. they showed a video all about the witnesses in russia and the court battles they've been fighting of late and the hard time they have been having because of it all.. the first thing that struck me, hey, why don't you a** holes in brooklyn send these poor sods a few rubles to help them along?.

  nah!

  prayer is what they need.. anyway, i hadn't really followed the story so i thought i would look it up this morning and see what was in the media about the story.. on the npr website they had a big write up about it back in may of last year.... http://www.npr.org/sections/parallels/2016/05/17/476898973/russias-jehovahs-witnesses-fight-extremist-label-possible-ban.

  undercover: It is troubling that Russia is clamping down on, not just JWs, but any religion/sect that doesn't meet their strict interpretation of what is acceptable worship.

  Something that is critical about the Jehovah's Witnesses worship/practice that puts them in a unfavorable position in Russia is the JWs' religious practice of insisting on Jehovah Law as superior to the existing secular law.

  'Acceptable worship' in Russia does not mean that, for example, a Muslim sect can practice and attempt to establish Sharia law. A Muslim sect that tries to establish Sharia law will be banned and likewise, when the JWs insist on preaching that it is Jehovah law that must prevail upon all people, they can expect to be labelled "extremist" and banned as well.

  The JWs do not respect "earthly" government. And they are proud of it. They jump up and down and cheer for the destruction of government, so it can be replaced with Jehovah Law, at the very same time that they walk around and try to claim that they are "politically neutral".

  The JWs claim to be a religion but their purpose and practice is very political.

  I have a really serious question that I forgot to ask Richard.

  (sorry about the train wreck, respectful observer. It happens. Just trying to pull bodies out of the wreck...I am feeling responsible for some reason)

  Back to Richard. The train was sliding off the rails when I made a post a ways back where I quoted you and said this:

  " The Navajo nation is very happy that Watchtower is trying to present information in that language..."
  Says who? The Watchtower?

  Then, after some more swaying and bumping on the train, you came back later with a post that quoted an article saying this:

  Dr. Ricardo Ma. Duran Nolasco, professor at the Department of Linguistics in the University of the Philippines-Diliman and a leading advocate of the MTB-MLE, agreed on a currently “compelling need for quality instructional materials in local languages for the early grades.”

  Nolasco said he was glad that local publishing institutions, such as Watch Tower Society, were filling this need by producing reading materials and videos in local languages, including Filipino Sign Language, that can be used as supplementary materials to help pupils in their studies.

  Were you posting that article as a source for your comment about the happy Navajo nation? Because, if you are, that is pretty offensive. And not at all the kind of "academic" research that you mentioned earlier. Jus' sayin'

  I didn't dismiss what you said. I didn't deny the statement that followed your "I am sure" pronouncement.

  I was just holding you accountable for what you said. I wanted confirmation that was more than just "I am sure"

  There is a difference. I notice that you have a habit of jumping to conclusions about what people say on this forum. Maybe you should work on that. You know...get your facts straight
