Another marriage bites the dust ...
by EdenOne in... and this time it was mine.. mrs. eden decided to part ways and leave home, and so our 25 year long partnership is now dissolving.
.
just another colateral damage in a long list of colateral damages from being raised in the "truth".

How to "turn the tables" on still-in witness who pry about our status.
by stuckinarut2 inso many of us have had (perhaps well-meaning) jws ask us questions about our inactivity, or lack of attendance at meetings.
they may pry about why..... how is this for a simple, yet straight to the point response?
to a sincere person, it may play on their mind and make them ask more questions.

When my mother asked me why we weren't going I said: "I've learned some disturbing things about watchtower and child abuse that have me upset, so I'm waiting on Jehovah."
She changed the subject.

What Is The Most Ridiculous Thing You Have Heard From A Witness?
by minimus ini remember an elder questioning a woman who had admitted to giving and receiving oral sex from her unbelieving mate.
he asked her the most intimate questions which clearly flustered her.
interestingly, she “confessed “ to the elders because her conscience bothered her.

The Perfect Storm in 2018?
by Wild_Thing ini have been sadly watching as the number of jws in other countries are decreasing (for the most part), while the numbers in the us are strangely increasing.
while i question the organization's self reporting numbers, i think 2018 may be the year for another mass us exodus.
leah remini's show will be focusing on jws in her show on a&e.

I think it will be an invisible, overlapping collapse after revealing some new light.

Deceptive comments or lies that you have heard from platform or brothers & sisters?
by Farmer Jim1 inok, so what are the most deceptive comments that you have heard from your experience in congregations?.
my top three are;.
1) service overseer during the ’ how did we do?’ annual talk, twisted the figures to such an extent that it looked like the congregations ministry was in tip-top shape.

Question about dfed relatives
by awake!watcher indoes anyone know if there is a wt reference that says associating with a dfed relative is a conscience matter?
i am asking because someone is trying to cause trouble and i was hoping there was an article i could point to to shut them up..

Thanks to you all for your help. I think the most positive quote is in the sheparding book, which I can't use on this person. He is a fully indoctrinated dub who has excluded our family from his wedding because we have had contact with a dfed relative of mine. I'm done with him. You all have given excellent help and advice, thank you.

Shunning: Extreme apathy!
by StephaneLaliberte ini thought i'd share this one with the group.
many years ago, my mom was disfellowshipped.
then, my sister passed away in a car accident, she was fairly young, as she was in her early 20s.

So sorry you went through this. When my grandmother was dying we went to the hospital to say goodbye. She was a JW who got baptized in her '80's. My mother is a dub, along with my brother who' s also an elder. I'm faded/inactive but not dfed. I have another brother who has been dfed for many years. My elder dub brother refused to acknowledge that my other brother was even there, let alone say anything to him. My dfed brother was very close to my grandma and was crying his eyes out and heartbroken that we were losing her. I was hugging him and comforting him while my dub brother was looking at me like i was the spawn of Satan. I was awake before, but this really reinforced my thinking that this is not a loving organization. I now have a wonderful relationship with my dfed brother, and if someone sees me spending time with him and want to report me, that would be fine.
