Alive!
I'm at peace that I no longer support these 'leaders' - to do so would mean that I'm OK with children and vulnerable people being taught to be obedient in all things to those who are approved through appointment, as in Elders, COs, DOs and the horrible, dishonest and manipulative writing department.
My husband and I saw behind the curtain years and years ago, but allowed for 'imperfection' as we allowed ourselves to be lulled into the arms of what seemed to be a Christian movement, a brotherhood.
We'd get 'flashes' of feeling disturbed, but made allowances.
The show is over for good - the true colours of cheap commercialisation have bled out over the 'clean image' - the ARC, the 'face' of the leaders, lacking candour, dodging questions.
I hope they read here and absolutely 'get' what damage they are doing and what damage they have done.
Their people lie for them, their 'trained' Christians are not set free by truth - but are entrapped in a bubble of fear and pretence.
I've seen it, heard it.
This latest offering for children has enraged me. Thank God I have no children in this vile mess that masquerades as 'the truth'.

"Ones"
by Joe Grundy in(i never was a dub).. this is something which has intrigued me for a while.
i don't know whether it's dub-speak, or us-speak.. it's the use of the word 'ones' as in 'interested ones', 'worldly ones', 'disfellowshipped ones' and so on and so on.. in the 'normal world' we would probably use the word 'people'.. thoughts?.

I used to cringe when I heard 'ones'
Looking back, there were many times that me and my husband would should a quick look at eachother as yet another brother would launch into 'watchtower- speak' complete with over theatrical gestures and this would be in just a simple conversation.
A 'fine' witness, brother, talk
We really hated the Anerican spin on so much of 'brand' but shrugged it off as surely it's the 'truth' that matters.....
And then the deception and lies became manifest....and....it was a case of a 'fine' exit left.

Do you know what Rahab looked like?
by ttdtt inhello friends - here is a new area in the kids section of the jw website - learn how to draw rahab.. 1st - she was a prostitute of jericho.
could there be other characters to talk about with our kids?.
2nd - it says "learn how to draw rahab".

Alive!
What idiotic stuff.
Why not draw Mary? Deborah the judge!!!
You know why they elevate Rahab ( she comes up a lot in various WT studies) ?
In the original story, she used subterfuge to protect certain Israelites - JW.org want to imprint on children's minds - that subterfuge is good, if it protects their people.
Ancient scriptures such as Rahab are accounts, not examples to follow of living.

by Witness 007 inwhen i grew up in the 1980's -90's it was rare to see a faithful slaves picture in 10 years of watchtowers.
everything was anonymous.

Hello, fairly new, studying for around 7 months, just thought I would introduce myself.
by Conanthebeliever inhello everyone, i hope you are all ok. .

i have some brain damage, so i apologise in advance if my syntax is off or i go a long way around explaining things.

Well done Conan.
You don't need to 'class' yourself as anything .....
How sad your freind got 'hot under the collar' when you explained it was the victims who reported the crimes, not the org....
The 'live' ARC videos show Watchtower lawyers in front of an Australian court dodging questions.....yet admitting not ONE case had been reported by the organisation, despite them having 'confessions' from accused paedophiles at watchtower judicials.
Now you've seen it goes exactly as predicted.
Thank goodness you stumbled upon this site before you were baptised and subjected to their manipulation, deception and control.
Well done :-)

Long time lurker, first time poster ...
by LettMorrisSplaneit ini finally had the guts to create a profile to be able to post.
i've been lurking for a few months and have read all your experiences and comments dutifully.
you have been a great help in my process of waking up from this cult posing as the one true religion.

Hi,
Best 'name' ever!
It's a tough road, but an inevitable road if the deliberate dishonesty and emotional manipulation just makes you feel unable to support and more importantly, declare that the leaders in Brooklyn are truly Christ's brothers in a way that makes them special compared to you, me and the rest of humankind.

Game's up - the game has long been up.
Now, either the all new defined FDS do not bother paying attention to what gets out on JW.org ( which means that out of all the important jobs they have - surely the 'worldwide' messages that are transmitted being the most important- they don't actually care) or they thought it was just dandy......what a mess.

Making friends in the "truth"
by Jordandemm inwhat is it about making friends in the organisation am i the only one who had found it tough?
don't get me wrong there was some good people but unfortunately there was also a lot of egotism, back stabbing, jealousy and gossiping.
i could never really fit in any group, everytime i thought i had found a group it was as if i would be sidelined or ditched.

Over the past three years, I haven't been to meetings. On two seperate occasions, in the past 18 months I was contacted out of the blue by born-in witnesses, both faithful etc - but having a life crisis where they needed comfort.
I offered a place to retreat ( which is what they needed) - one stayed for a week and came back several times for a night here and there (born in, occasional pioneer, a beautiful young woman - she felt she had no-one to turn to) the other who lives offshore and was visiting on personal business chose NOT to stay with her 'lifelong' friends or family but stayed with me....( she is a career pioneer and she and her PO husband are in the movers and shakers class.....she doesn't keep in touch and it's always been me that makes contact through social media....)
Although they both know I have had my share of past traumatic experience which I have generally kept in the background of my life, neither have kept in touch - their families have never called or wrote to express gratitude for any kindness on my behalf towards their 'own' - or been concerned that I am 'alright'....
The point is - through my life as a converted JW, I noticed that born-ins and converts alike, had no-one to turn to.....but they DID come to me. And I'm no- one.
I wonder how they feel - being so alone in this huge brotherhood.....I got a taste of it, it nearly killed me.

I like the point made that you'd think the org would set up workshops to enable 'publishers' to be up to speed - it's SO hard for some older ones to switch into technology....even workshops would only relieve a little of the stress for some.
For a faithful elderly witness, their inability to keep up would hurt badly.....
I've noticed that at most churches there are worship times for elderly, along with the main church services.....which on Sundays are at two times in the morning - take your pick....plus a 'classic' for those wanting a familiar and older style service, with hymns they have known since childhood - some are absolutely beautiful by the way.
I've seen the elderly cherished and cared for, called to tell life experiences sometimes -such as how they've coped in difficult times....I'm only an occasional observer, but everyone seems to have their place and voice, men and women alike.
