If the FDS is God's channel of communication, God is playing some really funny games with us

"Do you believe that the 'faithful slave' is God's channel of communication?"
by The Fall Guy inif a jw had the nerve to ask me this question, i'd say to them, "you go first.
using only scriptural proof, show me why you believe that the wtbts/ccojw is god's choice and i'll tell you if i agree with your scriptural reasoning.".
wait for the silence and the rabbit in the headlights moment.. i searched on the wt cd rom for references of "channel of communication.".

why do jws hate pagans?
by nowawake14 inpaganism from my view is just a mental fantasy.
it's not real.
so why do jws get mad at it anyway?

The Piñata article/issue was a real ‘wobble’ for me.
It showed how deftly the Watchtower could play out their own so called bible principles to suit their agenda.
It seemed to me that saying the Piñata was OK had something to do with winning a certain large and fast developing ethnic community, where the Piñata was a treasured tradition.
It just seemed suspicious in it’s attempt to rationalise the keeping of such a tradition that clearly had ´pagan’ origins.
It’s all so exhausting to me these days, the mad, mad world of Watchtower reasoning!

Serving where the need is nicer
by Xanthippe inso there isn't a congregation in my town, they come from the congregation about five miles away about twice a year to do fs.. this morning i was driving out of the town on the country roads and there were four jws (obvious by men with briefcases and women in very long dresses).
they seemed to be walking to the next place, a village about 15 minutes walk away.. why not drive?
they must have left the cars in my town!

Another trick was to do not at homes, taking in turns to pick a call from our notebooks - and we’d end up going back and forth over town. Desperate to fill in the hours of the day.
I was fully dedicated and was always stressed trying to meet the quota for selected aux pio months, running a business, managing my home.
I actually loved most of the time out with different brothers and sisters, but I look back at how silly the hour fulfilment was.
Most were simply trying so hard... others were just career pioneers who indeed did the Pioneer Shuffle, spent hours at calls where they knew there’d be a drink and biscuit and a seat - even when the call wasn’t really ‘on track’.
Their title of Pioneer was their most treasured asset.
It’s all quite sad really, on reflection.

Losing a loyal friend of 14 years

she was so sick and out of it we just had to do it.
when i called the spca on monday to make a appointment to have her put to sleep i felt like i betrayed her.

Very sorry for your loss Totally ADD.
Like others here, I’ve also had years of comfort from my animals.
They seem to know when you need them, their dear warm bodies lean into you - there are no words rich enough to describe the sheer comfort of that sweet presence.
When I was fully ‘in’ years ago - I remember a similar article about pets came out, with lots of advice and cautionary finger-wagging regarding our attitudes towards ‘pets’.
I really felt offended. I was an adult, I didn’t need anyone to try and ‘manage’ my relationship with the furry members of our household. My relationship was entirely healthy...and I simple loved in the tenderest way, my little companions.
I’ve been watched over, licked and stayed close to when suicidally sad, lost and despairing.
Instead of going out and about as per their usual little habits, my experience has been of their intuitive awareness regarding my needs, simply not leaving my side....basically saving me from real lonely wretchedness in the dark hours of the night.
Yes, I prayed...and yes, I felt comforted by prayer...that’s how I go.
SO...it was my animal who provided a physical earthly presence that was medicine indeed.
Sometimes, it seems the Watchtower writers just want to have an opinion on absolutely everything...I have to say that particular article was one that raised my hackles.... clearly it’s not a closed subject up at WT HO.
In this time of the ‘end’ ( as they insist) with folk struggling, suicides on the increase both outside and inside the organisation, mental health under stress, climate crisis, critical world events and more - they write an article on how one should regard ‘pets’.
I’ve buried a couple of dear ones, who I love to bring to mind...now the grief has softened over a few years.
One day I’ll have to say goodbye to my precious girl and boy.
The Watchtower articles are OFFENSIVE.
It’s like listening to a know-it-all, who actually doesn’t know when they are out of their depth and are sounding irritating and tiresome.
Unbelievable.

Now I am out, some reflections
by menrov inok, i have been out (officially inactive) for over 5 years now.
and from being frustrated during my awakening, to becoming a true bible student by analysing all doctrines and viewpoints, to being really happy to be out and at the same time, have developed a sense of disgust for the wt.
my wife is still very much a pimi.

My observation as a convert was that the average witness is ‘in’ because of the things Menrov spoke about.
One thing that got to me....was our poor witnessing model...using those magazines, pushing articles about stuff, hiding watchtowers about bizarre scriptural interpretations of ‘classes’ of this and that, prophetic dramas involving the WTBTS.
We hid those ‘crazy’ study articles in the inside covers of bland Awakes, because if we were honest with ourselves, we were embarrassed.
And....here we were, believing these poor people, our target, the population of mankind were in line for an angry and terrifying annihilation from a wrathful God....unless they accepted our ‘knock’ on their spiritual door.
Yet, in such apparent urgent times, we distributed too many half truths and full lies.
And.... did the average JW REALLY behave like a person who was aware that the world of humans was in line for extinction unless the JW ‘message’ was accepted?
Did we go back to our homes, tearful, sad and in prayerful minds given the monumental nature of our work?
Nope....after service, we’d lunch, share coffees...and have a good laugh.
It was NOT the true, undefiled gospel.
The good news for all mankind, was not good news for all mankind.
Even if you think it’s all a load of rubbish, the true ‘Good News’ looks very different to the not so ‘Good News’ of the exclusive world of JWs.

a recent wt shows the ideal next step.

I’d say the global Bethels and Wallkill fridges and freezers are full to the brim and always nicely stocked.
The writing department.....congratulations, this illustration and article was another nail in the coffin for me, a former dedicated believer and fund contributor to the materially comfortable lives of the bethel-dwellers.
To put this kind of guilt on the impoverished elderly is beyond reproach.

EU Court Ruling Against WT on Data-Protection
by cofty intoday's london times reports on the july ruling of the eu court that forces the organisation country to comply with data protection.. the action originated in finland but the ruling will affect every eu country.
the cult tried unsuccessfully to argue that the notes taken by jws in the door-to-door work were personal and not accessed by the congregation.
the court ruled that they are acting under the auspices of the congregation and therefore they must comply with data-protection laws.. keeping lists of do-not-calls also falls under this ruling.. why does the cult always feel that it is above the law?.

Sharing is why we kept the notes, like a diary of juicy gossip as we drove from “return visit” to “regular call”.
My memories were of long conversations about ‘calls’ and their personal lives - and to be honest, we DID care about them....but looking back, it was not really healthy given the unstable nature of some JW.
So many JWs leave, come and go - and the ‘calls’ are passed on, with personal information aplenty recorded in notes etc.

Carla - that personal record sounds typical of some ´note-takers’
I honestly think a fair minded Christian should see that this is just not acceptable....but in my experience, this kind of detail would be admired amongst the publishers.
As in... Sister so and so takes fantastic notes.
Anyway - it’s not acceptable, whatever way you look at it.

Doubter....that last post re Paul making notes....please dear, just stop.
you are not helping your ‘cause’ - clearly bible accounts are different to personal note taking of HH whereabouts, times, and mobile numbers and addresses.
Niow, dear - please just stop.

And a change of practices should be welcomed. What’s the problem in changing?
Did Paul keep records in householders?
if he did....it would have been useful to have it made clear!
But, it appears that God was always ahead of him and other Christian teachers from a bible account point of view. No note taking required it seems to bolster the preaching work....or did I miss something?
