a young pioneer elder i know informed me that he and his wife have been accepted at bethel.. he's a brilliant young man with a promising future where he is employed.
the job he currently has is as safe and secure as they come and is well above the average income.. in a short period of time he'll throw that all away to go and serve at bethel.. he's expressed to me in the past the desire for children which they will also forgo until the new system.. i've almost expressed my true feeling to him several times but felt that because of his positon in the congregation and his family history of faithful missionaries and bethelites that he would not only label me as a dangerous apostate but also instigate judicial action.. i guess i've answered my own question with the last statement.
it just makes me feel sick to allow him make such an uninformed decision which will affect the rest of his life.. have any of you been faced with similar circumstances?.

Yes they will go away and waste their lives or the prime portion of it. This is a tragedy and I know you feel bad for them. The bottom line is that there is not a damm thing you can do. By the time some one is so brainwashed as to be going to bethel there is no hope of reasoning or talking to them. I think a person has got to start to question their beliefs before any outside influence will change them.Sad but true.

This thread was actually a question that my daughter Mysterious raised but since she had run out of posts for the day (talks a lot) I put it up. My thoughts to her were they same as many of you expressed.
Euphemism is correct. I know a number of opposers of JWs who have never been JWs but who are looked on by JWs as apostates
There are rules in the borg and then there are the REAL RULES in the borg.You can never tell just what they will do if they want to push their agenda and try to isolate you.
For myself I took the plunge and I do know the results for me if I publically come out against them.As with many with close family still in I choose to be cautious with what I say and do.
Mysterious on the other hand has not been baptized so she wanted to find out where she stood if she took a more vocal stand against the insanity that is the borg.As you may have guessed from previous posts of hers it is not in her nature to sit quietly back and say nothing when she perceives an injustice being done.Where this will lead her only time will tell.

If I wanted to get my point across today I would just list (on a big sign) a few very good web pages to visit such as www.freeminds.org The new generation of children are very net savvy and many would out of curiosity take a look. Some questioning ones might do so also in the privacy of their own homes. Elders would have an impossible task trying to stop this kind of activity.
Without the new blood of the next generation to carry on this CULT would die. I hope this day will soon come. They have caused enough anger,hurt and suffering in many peoples lives.IT HAS GOT TO END.

i have a small stash of a few things somewhere that i want to torch, no books or anything but i have some assembly badge cards, several old identity cards (the kind kids always had to carry just in case!
), and the full version card mom got last year in anticipation of me wanting one when i get baptised next summer.
I know of a few people that had book burnings and such.

well, the shunning begins.
we finally had "the" discussion with my parents, that we no longer consider ourselves jw's, and a little bit of why we felt that way.
of course, "dad the elder and po" and mom the pioneer dutifully informed us that not only will they be "loyal to the organization" and shun us completely, but that he would immediately let the other elders know, so that proper judicial action could be taken.. it was a heart wrenching discussion, with all of us, including my two young boys (9 and 10) all balling our eyes out.
I'll post more on our discussions with them and the coming JC crap shortly.
Sad but true...The WT and their cruel and inhumane shunning rules always come before family and natural,normal relationships.Why even go to the bother of a JC ? It would seem to only validate the whole process and the answer would remain the same.

i was raised as a loyal dub since birth, taught the religion by my mother who is a strong supporter of the wts.
my father had been inactive since before i was born, actually he's the one who found this site first.

I know the last year or so has been hard for you. There have been many changes and decisions to be made. I have had to make changes also in my way of looking at people and life. It has been a growth experiance for both of us.
I still remember the day you (came out) to me. Life was very uncertain for you at that moment. Would you be rejected by me,accepted by me or somewhere in between. I think my arms around you and holding you tight told you the whole story.When your Mother saw you next she thought you maybe were high on drugs. Little did she know you were just high on life,knowing your Father had not rejected you and you were LOVED without conditions.
I wish all people in this world could love without conditions and just accept everyone as fellow humans traveling down the highway of life together. I have learned first hand the pain and uncertainty that a teenager faces coming to terms and accepting who they are and where their life will lead. This uncertainty is faced by thousands every day around the world and how they come to terms with it determines how well their life will turn out.
You are a strong person with a good focus and view of life.I know you will do well as you travel down the road of life and you know I will ALWAYS be their for you.

Hey E-Man I hate to tell you this but that race for the bathroom can be very serious business when you have been drinking beer with your fellow 'POZTATES' all day long.
On another serious note we do indeeed owe Simon,Angharad and the mods a debt of gratitude for all their efforts in maintaining this site for our benefit.I know it has helped me greatly with issues I faced with the WT,both in resolving and also just being able to talk them out.

on ozzie post i noticed this statement from blondiedoes anyone remember the days when an unbaptized person was "disassociated".
i was of the impression that kids who were brought up in the "truth" but had not been baptized would still be da'ed if they were caught doing something against any of the many rules.has this changed???.
could a local congo still practice da'ing even if head office had changed their policy??
