I've nearly finished Red Azalea by Anchee Min; incredible story, very nicely written .
Living within the constrains of the Communist party and the mental control exercised on the members reminded me incredibly of being in the WTBS.
Some phrases would have fitted into a Watchtower if you'd replaced The Party for The Society...

Some things I'd like to do in life....
by logansrun inteach my students (future) how to think.. live somewhere other than chicago for at least a year.
learn how to cook kick-ass healthy meals.
travel asia.. own a horse.. write a book, even if it never gets published.. have sex in outer space (okay, i'll settle for the beach).

After 22 years I've found my brother!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
by tyydyy inmy brother went to bethel as a teenager and was disfellowshipped and sent home.
he tried to toe the line and after 6 months the local congregation recommended reinstatement.
bethel didn't like that idea.

thank you all my defenders
by Mulan inhi to all who defended me on that other board.. i came home today to nine pm's, all defending me from the personal attacks on me, on another board.
i am still in shock, but i do appreciate the words of those who defended me.. one gal called me and told me she had five phone calls from others expressing shock over the way i was being maligned on the other board.. i am fine, and dealing with it.
i guess we all need to expect to be criticized.

I hope you can take solace in the fact that they don't know you, so It's just bitchness ; probably mixed with low self esteem that seems to make them feel the need to attack to gain admiration and to make them feel powerful.

my heart hurts.
by flower inwell i have been feeling a bit like crap lately.
work has been very stressful and my attempts to make new friends outside of the jw's have been mostly futile.
the people i work with are immature and are more interested in the latest office gossip and whose doing what than anything else.

((flower)) we all care; SO much, I can't bear to think of any of us out there on our own-it really upsets me- call me anytime -or if you send me yours i'll call you; i'll send you my phone number and email just so you have it.
Putting your self out there and making an effort was an incredibly brave thing to do.It will get better - please don't give up trying.
I'm sorry to hear about your conversation with your sis, that must'vr been awful for you.
Things will get better in time, and until then you've got us lot.

Well Baker sounds like a complete tosser to me..
why would genes from a faulty human being be worth having?
The rapist is likely to be someone with seriously impared emotional and social skills with a vicious streak, incapeable of considering other peoples' feelings and the affect his behaviour would have on their future ability to care for a child he may be subconciously wanting to offer them as she'll be so traumatised she'll not want it anyway......hardly the attributes you wish to see appear in your child...
