WTBS attitude towards vegetarians ...
by El blanko in.
having flirted with meat off and on through my life, but mostly conforming to the vegetarian standard (due to the obscenity for the most part that is the meat industry) - i noticed when serving with the society, that i came under fire from the brothers.. my moral arguments about cutting down on meat consumption based around the factory farming methods were cast aside and often sneered at.. "well god gave us the right to eat meat" was the usual line i had to swallow down.. have any of you guys faced the same situation?

Not too sure about making your own medicines part, but eatring right sounds good. If I have a bacterial infection, I'd rather take an antibiotic from the DR than something I grew in my backyard
well, yeah if I need to I'll take anti biotics if I have to-though I hav'nt for 10 years..something i've grown in my back garden does have the benefit of being fresh, organic, and the origional source for alot of the synthetic meds your doc will prescribe you.I 'll put stilton of bad cuts as it prevents serious infections and chew willow twigs for headaches..willow was the origion of asprin; but whereas asprin will irritate the stomach lining., willow bark soothes the stomach and prevents internal bleeding.
And the plant lady's mantle(alchemelia mollis) will get rid of period cramps and many uterine problems and severe blood loss if the leaves are infused and drank as a tea-it's really light and softer than reen tea...could never get them to drink it on my bible study though , lol

Going shopping in my slippers....
Falling out of a taxi.........
running into a huge glass french window that was the entrance to a really busy Spanish bar .....
walking into lamposts...
leaving my baby in Boots the Chemist...
having to pee after a night out and finding the only bush available was in the middle of a roundabout in a city centre...which was floodlit...
Drying my hair on the beach by flicking it around and hit my head on a rock...
Going in a car wash with the windows down...
there are many more I can't tell you ...I am a walking disaster area...

I used to be a very strict vegetarian-have lapsed a little this year but am back on track now lol,,
I think that JWs never liked anything to do with vegetarians much as they represented a counter culture that they didn't want to be associated with
that was the attitude I encountered....got it about eating organically, recycling and making my own medicines and too...it was all considered to be showing an un natural obsession with health and therefore a lack of faith in the promises for the future :S
the concept of being united mentally and of the same opinion was taken to encompass everything and to the extreme.I was labelled a hippy by some just because I take care of myself.

Just As A Matter Of Curiosity..........
by hillary_step injust as a matter of curiosity i was wondering if any of you know of anybody who has read raymond franz' 'crisis of conscience' and who actually remained a jw?
i have sent and lent this book to a number of people within the wts, even a co, all of whom left eventually.
one person remained due to domestic issues, but resigned from all his duties and remains as such.

no,i don't., but I do remember regular announcements in my congregation , maybe one a year, about the book.
We were told that if you read it you would leave the 'truth' immediately, and there was a copy at the local library...an NOT, under any circumstances to go near it...very odd announcement to give...we did habe quite a few leae over the years..perhaps the reverse psychology did'nt work the way they'd hoped...

What's your basic attitude?
by seattleniceguy ini think that if i had to describe my basic attitude toward life, the universe, and everything in one sentence, it would be this:.
generally, and on reflection, life is better today than it was yesterday.. very anti-thetical to the wt view of things, i know.

ah, you've had some great advice that I cant add to so I won't (accept perhaps to make sure mum has lots of fresh fruit etc) hope the babies are doing well.
My cockateil flew away the other day....he'd been agressive towards my female for a few weeks...he's still circling the garden but won't come down...the female's calling to him wildly all day..(unless she's shouting..' and don't come back you *@**!!!...' any suggestions? my daughter's really upset.........

Ex Music
by Stefanie inbecause i love music so much, i wanted to start another thread on it.. what songs remind you of your ex?
the ones you have to turn off before you... a) cry your eyes out... b) get so angry you would like to curse out loud, or... d) you dont care, you like to be reminded of your past flings.. for me it would have to be anything from seal, or hootie and the blowfish, and anything jazz.
i dont a,b, or c, but i do get annoyed and dont like to be reminded so i switch the station.. anyone else?

Every song has meaning one way or another when you're feeling sorry for yourself. I tend to just let it stay if it's on the radio and make a concious effort to play 'meaningful' music to death until it's part of the present instead of the past.
If an ex is an ex it's because they wer'nt right for me, so i'm pleased the relationship's changed to just friendship... if I still got really upset when I heard 'our songs' that'd be bad news as it'd start alarm bells ringing and imply that I wished I had that relationship back......
I don't actually have any sad memories connected to relationships and music;99% of my ex's are friends still; but to be reminded of happy times when the present is crap is a bit much to take lol.
