i've been thinking about this a lot, because i've chosen to fade and i would never refer to myself as a jdub, but i've read postings from others who do.
i would have written a letter a year ago but i've got older parents who are upset enough about me just not attending.
on another thread someone is also leaving and they were advised to tell the jc to do whatever, to not acknowledge that they have any authority.
I have chosen not to write them a letter because it would only really be of assistance to them, help them keep their records clean and orderly. Now if it gave me closure or something, maybe I would but I think any trauma left from the WTS would still be there if I chose to allow it out any way..
I just have nothing to do with them. I tell people I meet when religion comes up that I am an EX JW. I certainly, even though not dfd or officially da'd, do NOT consider myself a dub

i want to say right from the start that i like gumball very much.
i've talked by phone to him in the past and we've had some discussions here over the years.
Gumby, I heard you got back in and understand your reasons. None of our choices are easy (unless we have no family in I guess)... I've always respected those who make the choice to be in, after having seen the WTS for what it really is.
I think pershaps I might have thought to have gone back, because I miss my mom so very much and a few old close friends... but I would only lose my dad in the process and probably my kids. So for me its a tradeoff, I lose someone no matter what.

However if some racists walked in front of a bus I wouldn't cry

so i went to the doctor yesterday for my exit counselling and some other things.. we talked about the religion, this is my first visit with her.
she said there is another good and loving god .....not that cruel one.
and she knew about the shunning that the witnesses do.. so this is the second doc within a weeks time, that seems to have a bit of background knowledge on the witness religion.. i wondered how many witnesses have needed counselling????
they are usually aware fo the JWs. Some of positive feelings about them, and some do not..
when I saw one therapist who told me I needed to find another religion because this one was only causing me stress and giving me no support.. I stopped seeing her..
others I saw thought they were a supportive group to each other.
I think the thing is.. when I was a dub, even if I wanted to complain about pressure from the elders, etc.. in the back of my mind I always felt like they wouldn't understand, so I needed to make sure I still gave a good witness to Jehovah's name.. so I tried to speak only posively about them..
