I got married yesterday!
by Gadget ini've been posting on here for four years now, and so much has changed in my life.
everything seemed to be going wrong then, but time has done wonders and things are real good now.
lots of people on the board helped and supported me through that, as well as new non-witness friends that i made.

what was the strangest/worst counsel you recieved from elders ?
by flipper inhaving been in the organization for 30 years, after i got out i reflected on this.
as a teenager i was told to not let my hair grow over my ears because i might stumble other young ones in the congregation.
also, in order to carry the microphones i was told i couldn't wear white socks, had to wear black or dark blue socks.

Wackiest thing I ever got from the elders.. ok two things..
first .. was when I divorced my first husband.. and for cheating.. but he denied it to the elders even though he admitted it to me..
they told me since I didn't have the 'right proof' that even though he was no longer my husband legally.. I still had to give him respect as my head.. RESPECT!! can you buy that??
second.. when I was a very naughty girl.. years later.. and become involved in sexual immorality (isn't that just how they would have put it)..
well I had a threesome.. male male and me..
they assumed first it was female me.. and male.. they told me at least it wasn't that.. for that would have been WORSE.. because then it would not only have been sexual immorality .. but also lesbianism....
nuts.. I tell ya

my profile
by BlackSwan of Memphis ini live in mi and was raised a jw.
i left officially in 05, but my thinking had evolved before then.. if you're at this board, you're probably asking questions, or have asked questions and realized that the answers are not what you had thought they were.. if you're looking at this profile, you probably read one of my posts.. i suppose there is only one thing i would want anyone to know:.
it won't replace the years you believe you lost to the organization.. live your life that you have now and enjoy it.. often this means making a new life.

It's been VERY hard not posting here. I check every single Tuesday to see how the vigil is doing and keep you all in my thoughts. I'll lurk A Little, because I know that this where I'll find out how Ian is doing, this is where I'll find out how Out and Sassy are doing. I can't find that out. But once I start posting, my life becomes absorbed with JWism stuff. And I can so easily fall into it all. And for me, that's just really not healthy.
awwee.. that touched me..
as you know.. I am not as frequent as I used to be.. although I have popped in here for a post or two a little more lately. I think I come here more to see if old familiar friends have a thread which catches my eye.. or they need support.. and I want to support the vigils too. Everyone was so supportive when my dad was sick.. and so loving when he died. Those are reasons I still come here. But I surely do not read all the threads any more.. and I am guilty of not trying hard to get to know all the newbies.. something I once always did.
I too have found that spending tooooo much time on xJW boards while enjoyable, can also drag you down.. and as you said almost keep you in that JW mindset.. its a different layer of thinking.. but it is still holding us in some ways to the issues we had in JW life as if we are half still in them.. The past couple years I only pop on sometimes once in three months.. I never stopped caring but I also found I needed a life outside jw mentality thinking and issues.. while we heal together here.. we also hold ourselves captive.
I still spend a lot of time with SimpleSally and ApagaLaLuz, but our time together is not so much about the dubs but about our lives we live today in the world without being a dub.. and days when we don't even have to think about being one..
But there will always be a part of me that wants a connection with xdubs.. no one else understands me.. not the same.. There is a guy I am even thinking of dating (my last relationship is over).. he was raised a witness.. (although never baptised).. and I wonder if that will be a help in a relationship.. or a hindrance.. we'll see..
Any way my friend.. I think your profile was wonderful.. as were your posts here..
and if you want an additional way to contact me.. send me a pm.. I'll give you my email..

What do you wish you were doing now and later?
by Crumpet inwhat i wish i was doing is sliding out of a hotel bed with a view onto the mountains or the sea and getting ready for a lazy day by the pool being served margharitas whilst i people watch and reading my book.
i'd plan on a pizza and a salad after a vigorous swim.
possibly retiring to my air conditioned room when it gets too hot for some fun with one of my two playmates.

Anyone else think that Freddie's voice indicates his underwear was maybe a bit too tight? He sounds like a nasally little twirp....:he sounds like that. I actually met him once.. we rode in a hotel elevator together at a convention.. he introduced himself to me

Blonde, Brunette, Redhead? Do you have a favorite?
by Paralipomenon inthis is a fun question that i like to pose in social settings.
regardless of who your significant other is, i've found that people have a definite preference for hair color.
what i found even more interesting is that people usually preferred a hair color different than their own.

I have dated only black men since I left the WTS.. and a bit before as well..
so obviously their hair is dark.. although technically I prefer them bald...

be safe.. I remember being in a tornado once.. we were in a trailor and we tried to leave but the suction was all around it so we couldn't get out. Scary.. the trees were falling down around us like toothpicks.. after that we always fled to a neighbors house with a basement..
I don't miss those days..

NEW policy! NO LIT for EX-JWs!
by MinisterAmos init's official; they read the letter tonight that puts forth the new procedure.
if you find an expelled person in the field or are studying with one, you are no longer permitted to give them lit.
presumably the elders make a decision if an expelled one is regularly attending meetings, but only they can give them lit.

I got news for you.........you never were allowed to give literature to a DFed person, so evidently this is a reminder, not a change in policy.
As for studying with a DFed one? Hello? Since when did a publisher EVER study with a DFed person? Never, that's when.
that is what I was thinking..
at any rate I don't want any of their brainwash crap.. so they can keep it..
