That information may be found in the "Informant"s (now Kingdom Ministries). Unfortunely a lot of Kingdom Halls do not carry them, I know the one I last attended didn't. I did find in the back of the JP book(JW's in the Divine Purpose -1959) the 1938 year had 69,345 attending , with 36,732 partaking! I hope this helps you somewhat.

Disfellowshipping or Disassociation what is the "difference"?
by booker-t ini know this may sound like a dumb question but fellow ex-jws out there what is the difference between being disfellowshipped or being disassociated?
why do the watchtower have two classes of ex-jws?
i have really never understood the difference.

Its truly amazing!! After reading every scripture in that KM article , not one of their statements were backed by these scriptures. Reading the context of the scriptures pointed to something completely different. Big difference between the "teachings of Christ" and "Watchtower doctrine".

KM in 1974 praising people for selling all their stuff and pioneering?
by ithinkisee insomeone on this site mentioned they got a km off ebay that praised those that sold all their belongings and preached.. does anyone know which km that was?.
interesting, when going through the society's cd-rom i noticed that the drama for the district convention in 1975 was about noah's ark and was something along the lines of "there's still time left!
" (i'm paraphrasing).. -dm

. A fine point made in the talk "Choosing the Best Way of Life" was that Jehovah God will save us from stumbling?even as he did David in the case of Nabal?s insolence?but we must do our part. The brothers also appreciated the candor of this same talk, which acknowledged the Society?s responsibility for some of the disappointment a number felt regarding 1975. YB 1980 pg.30-31.
For some of the dissappointment?? Ya gotta be kidding me!!

Just when I thought I didn't hurt over the JW's Shunning,,,,,,,, I dream :(
by LyinEyes infor such a long time, i haven't had any dreams dealing with my jw issues, and mostly i just pick and make fun of my old jw days.. last night i dreamed another dream about old friends and it was painful.
i woke myself up crying.. i dreamed my family that are all out, in laws included where at a convention.....there was one sweet girl that we have known since she was a baby and she was waving and smiling at us from afar.. i was worried she would get in trouble, and wondered if she knew we were d/a.
( of course in real life she knows).. as the dream went on , more and more of the faces of so many of the witnesses started to appear.

I have been out of the Borg for over 27 years and I'm still somewhat affected. Probably because my parents are still in it. When I still visit them as a dutiful son, I receive quick remarks, such as ,"It'll
be nice to see you come back in the organization". I still accept their literature( I guess out of respect)
but I don't bother reading it. This site has help me greatly. Not to long ago ,I was attending meetings just to have a closeness with my parents(not to close being I'm disassociated),and then I woke up.Now a days I enjoy the company of my wife( boy was she releived I didn't go back) and many true friends who love me for me and not my religious preference.Step by step I'm building a true love and faith in the Lord . Thanks to everyone in this site for hearing me out.

Is Ehrman's "The Orthodox Corruption of Scripture" worth reading?
by True North inmost of my "knowledge" of the history and sources of the bible was acquired from watchtower publications.
although i left the jw org.
some twenty years ago, i never felt compelled to consider the subject much further.

Presently I'm reading the book "Lost Christianities: The Battles for Scriptures and the Faiths we never Knew" We thought provoking and interesting as well. Will let you know when I'd finish the book.

New to the site, but got me on a train of thought....
by dustin_adam ini got ahold of the latest watchtower cd-rom (2001) from my grandmother, who is still an active jw.
i've added below a few direct qoutes from various publications... in one instance below the watchtower says that the bginning of christ's thousand-year reign will begin in 1975 with noted exception in error of "weeks or months, not years" then in 1975 they say that "it does us no good to speculate" on the date his reign will start!
because after his creation adam lived some time during the ?sixth day,?

God will save us from stumbling-even as he did David in the case of Nabal's insolence-but
we must do our part. The brothers also appreciated the candor of this same talk, which ack-
nowledged the Society's responsibility for some of the disappointment a number felt re-
garding 1975.
