Last 7day convention I recall was in July , 1969. Our family attended at Yankee Stadium. I hated being there because I was a stauch Met fan and despised the Yankees. So I remember asking my father if next time it can be held a Shea stadium. lol

When was the last 7-Day Convention held?
by VM44 indoes anyone know when the watchtower held the last 7-day convention?.
these conventions lasted from 9am to 9pm every day for a whole week, except perhaps for sunday.. they were mostly held in open-air stadiums and people had to endure the burning heat during the day, and the cold at night.. it took endurance to sit throughout the whole thing.. making people attend those things really was an expression of love from the watchtower!
did the watchtower drop right away to the 3-day program, or were 5 day conventions held for awhile?.

My first time
by not bitter ini am new to this site.
i've been out of it for about 17 years.
i've never really looked back or felt nger about any of it.

Yes ,not bitter , many of us are in the same situation as yourself. I was baptized at 14 and my folks had great aspirations for me ( becoming a missionary, working at Bethel, etc),all their hopes dashed when I diassociated myself a few years later. My folks ,as yours, are still very strong in "the truth" and still pray for my return, no matter how I have lived a very productive and caring life. Nothing will please them more. Yet I hold back on telling them anything negative about the WTS,biting my tongue at times(lol),not to blow apart this WT world they enjoy living in with all their relatives and friends . I really beleive they couldn't handle it . So their being up in age, I keep a closeness , or what little closeness we share, and try not to jeopardize that.

Like that one also BennyK
If I recall(being out for 30 years +) Every other year or so the WTS would always put out a article about Christmas in the Awake magazines around the Christmas holiday. I have a early issue of the "Golden Age"(pre "Awake") with a article entitled "Christmas, its origin" and guess what the date of the issue was..........Dec.12,1928! You guessed! lol

What was their response to that?? I was 19 when I DAed myself, but I had already joined the Armed services on a delayed entry program. I had 2 1/2 months of tension until I left the home. I not suggesting to join the service, but as nely136 stated:
"preparation and being able to support yourself is a must. if you've been offered a job as a manager then that would be worth investigating, especially I there may be help with finding accomodation attached or at least enough money to support yourself in finding somewhere. There is no shame in delaying if it gives you a little time to make sure bases are covered."

I'm back with a new computer and feeling better
by Lady Lee inthe last 15 days have been hard.. 10 days without a computer is hell.. i said this on another thread but want to say it again.. thank you so much to those of you who have contributed to getting me a computer and back on line.
this new baby of mine is awesome.
it would have taken me months to save up enough money to either fix the old (which i think would have needed to be rebuilt) or buy another.

The old big orange "Paradise" book
by aquagirl inanyone remember that?
i learned to read on that book.there were some very disturbing images, like the earth opening up and people falling into it.like upside down ladies and hippies.id love to get a hold of one and peruse it with a friend and some herbal medicine.maybe there is one in the attic?anyway, that and the image of the snake talking to the beautiful, bare shouldered eve,who was holding an apple, made a big impression on me.any else have any faves from that book?is it still being used?.
