I need some advice...regarding my jw dads funeral
by happyexjw ini could really do with some sound advice regarding my dad who is a long serving jw and his funeral arrangments.. my dad is in his last stages of cancer and has been talking with the elders about his funeral and with his family.
because a lot of his family are not jw's and that myself and my sister are both disfellowshipped.
he has chosen to have his funeral at the crematorium and hold a memorial at the kingdom hall a few days after.

I'am taking in all the above comments. Thanks to all. My father too has not been well lately.I've often considered what will be happen when that time comes. He and my mom have been JWs for over 40 years. My siblings and I have long been out of the borg,me disassociating myself well over 30 years ago. Most of my relatives are in the borg as well. So all in all I expect no sympathy or compassion at the services. I pray the Lord help me when that time arrives.Again, I really appreciate the comments stated here!

Check out the footnote to that article:
Only when there is a present, ongoing emergency which, in the doctor’s opinion, requires immediate attention may treatments deemed necessary to the child’s life or health (including blood transfusions) be lawfully provided without either parental or judicial consent. Of course, a physician must be accountable when he relies on this emergency power in the law.

This follows:

What the court needs to know is that, although you are refusing blood on deeply held religious grounds, youarenotrefusingmedicalcare. The judge needs to see that you are not neglectful or abusive parents but, rather, loving parents who want their child treated. You simply do not agree that the alleged benefits of blood outweigh its potentially lethal hazards and complications, especially when medical alternatives that do not carry these risks are available. -

No carefull student of the bible can fail to be impressed with the stress that is laid on the death of christ", stated the fouth issue of this magazine back in october 1879. That article concluded on a serious note: "Let us beware of anything that belittles, or sets aside the death of christ, as the offering and propitiations for sin.
