Do you ever miss the ecstasy?
by logansrun inhello folks,.
when i started to have serious doubts about witnessdom a few years ago i embarked on an investigation which catapulted me into, what i have come to call, the "ecstasy of insight" and the "agony of doubt.
" i remember going to an out-of-the-way library one morning to read crisis of conscience.

Using the JW as a model or reference, the way our beliefs unraveled and cleared like mists, I now like to turn my attentions onto the perceptions that we humans hold dear: Political/patriotic, religious/philosophical, scientific/mystic. I try to not be too cynical or negative, but being a bi-polar Capricorn makes that interesting.

I'm sorry you and your wife are feeling emotional pain from this confrontation. I liked your reasoning with him, I wish that I'd had the gall to think that way when I was in. Something that I hope I have learned and you may have just learned is when to "let sleeping dogs lie", or put it another way, the Taoist principle of Wu-Wei--"non action".
So, I guess, right now, I need help with "combating" the fact that they are true because they use the name Jehovah, and how important that is?
Totally bogus, as others have very adequitely shown.
Somebody else mentioned that they will just bring out one Red Herring after another; I think of this as a lesson in futility. When you are able to percieve that, you have taken another step in freeing yourself--not only from JW, but from dogmatic, cultish, group mentality.
You are so lucky to have both you and your wife in cahoots, I hope you continue to support one another in life's exploration.

are JWs allowed to shave in the under regions?
by tsunami_rid3r injust curious, since they control how we dress, how we're suppose to fuck, how we act.

just like cows who get stimulated when their genitals touched (is that even true? about cows I mean).
Its true, in the sense that the cow is stimulated to drop her milk, but not true in that it is sexualized. And I'm talking udder stimulation not uterine or vaginal--Just guessing here, any dairy farmers care to correct this--For the record, the only hair I shave is on my face.

Do you ever weigh yourself before and after you use the toilet?
by Elsewhere in.
it can be very entertaining to see how much you, well, "lost".
(it also helps if you have a digital scale that can measure fractions of a pound)

I make a point of not weighing myself until after down loeading, and before drinking tea or water. Works for me.

I have the side mud bars and a lift kit already installed--not by me. I think what's broke is an internal electronic part, so upgrading is not an option I think?
I do go up on mountain roads occationally, but nothing remotely like what those guys in the pic are doing...I'm too chicken...of wrecking my only vehicle. I like to just go where there are no people and look for rocks and peace.
I've not seen the new adds yet for the 06, but I bet they're yummy.
G'night.

Still religeous?
by John Doe ini'm curious how many here were witnesses.
for those that were, what are your current religeous affiliations?
i'm still evolving, but currently i consider myself to be a cross between an agnostic and a deist.

I am no-thing.
But for the sake of understanding, I think Taoist closely aproximates my philosophy. Deism seems to follow that too from a more western standpoint--I think?
In either case I am, and I just am learning to be.

I do appreciate the point I think the article is trying to make, many worship at the altar of science just as blindly as those they deride as idiots and fools that do at the altar of religion. I sometimes get tired of the hard science people that pontificate about different topics with about the same fervor that they probably did when they were dubs. Unless I am mistaken scientists have revised their precious theories about as often as the GB has changed dogma over the years, and there is no dearth of scientists sniping at each other about crackpot theories etc.
I completely agree. I like what Galileo said in the inquisition, I don't know it in Latin, but it means "And yet, it still moves" or similiar. He was talking about the earth moving and NOT being the center of the solar system, which the church at the time was adamant to keep.

Brooke, what kind of Jeep were you driving? My sister has a Wrangler. I think people-guys and gals-look sexy in a Jeep.
Bring on the mud!
I think I'm having electrical problems, but won't know till I get it plugged into a code reader.
