Want to share your thoughts on JWs?
by punkofnice inwell, it's been a long while since i last visited here.
i've been doing this and that...you know....lugubrious life and all.. i am interested in collating views from all types of people about jws, albeit non jws, ex jws....anyone associated with jws who wants to share their viewpoint.
later on i'd like to self publish these collected interviews but cannot offer any money as the project is more about giving people an opportunity to speak, help, whatever, rather than make a best seller.

Why is this scripture blank in some bibles and not in others? It is blank in the JW bible, too.
by Wild_Thing inand he replied, i do believe that jesus christ is the son of god.acts 8:37 (brg) | in context | whole chapter37 and philip said, if thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest.
the officer said, i believe that jesus christ is the son of god.|acts 8:37 (gnv) | in context | whole chapter37 and philip said unto him, if thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest.
and he answered and said, i believe that jesus christ is the son of god.acts 8:37 (kjv) | in context | whole chapter37 and philip said, if thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest.

This scripture blatantly shows the mistranslation of John 3:16 by the dubbies. Here the eunuch qualifies for baptism simply by making an expression of faith in Jesus. The Witnesses believes that one must "exercise faith" in order to gain salvation. Thus a works-based salvation is endorsed by the WTS, whereas scripture indicates the need for a faith-based salvation. Not to mention the availability of various scrolls from which to initiate a translation of scripture. Therefore, if you were a cult and needed to create a perverted translation which agrees with your doctrine.....when there is an opportunity to omit a scripture-citing some discrepancy in the source material-you would as well. -

But the GB is the Faithful slave. Not only that....they're also DISCREET......somehow they indiscreetly forgot their "masters" advice. -

Interesting conversation with this pentecostal today at work. It made me think.
by joe134cd inat work today a colleague was telling me how his church had purchased a van for the sole purpose of caring for their youth.
he was saying every friday / saturday night the church organizes some event for its youth outside it's church services.
they also have other services to that are provided free of charge for its members.

This is very much the case. Interesting thread, this is to be expected now that I take a step back from the cult mindset. Once you accept that the WT isn't a religion, but a cultic publishing company, you no longer expect to see some of the better aspects of religion within its dealings. Love and compasion go out the window. -

Welcome to the Forum, you will find that the only people who apostatize are the ones that really valued knowledge and research. My story, as those of many others is very similar to yours; welcome the forum! -

The shift: from follower to wanting to leave
by paradisebeauty inthis week has been the week when my whole way of thinking shifted.
i still cannot believe how this can happen so fast.
over a period of seven days i went from not even imagining that i could ever not be a witness to wanting to get out of this organisation.. .

Welcome to the forum, welcome to your freedom! My awakening was very quick as well, but you must remember to not go full-blown apostate on your relatives just yet.....especially if you must remain in for family reasons. It is also very helpful to do some research on the works of Steven Hassan: (Combating Cult Mind Control and Freedom of Mind), check out his website, and continue to educate yourself. Most importantly, don't for one moment allow yourself to feel any guilt over your new discoveries.....this is a tactic used by the org. to control people, when you get over the guilt...you have broken free.
Best Wishes, BF98

Same here, total same here. Just be persistent and count the good in being able to leave a mentally authentic existence, especially with the kids. -

Bible Students Are NOW CONSIDERED JEHOVAHS WITNESSES
by Blackfalcon98 inoh my, while attending one of the boasting sessions.....an elder made reference to recent changes in watchtower terminology.
of these changes, he mentioned that bible students are now considered to be jehovah's witnesses!
this shocked me, so i was wondering have anyone else heard of this new change?

I can totally see this evidence skewing the peak numbers and then the unconscious rank and file claiming it to be "proof that Jah is rocking the nations, etc"
