again, this ain't to toot my own horn, i'm just curious.
this morning a guy from work called me (we had one of those all too rare days off).
he says, "hey, i need you to help me this morning, can you do me a favor?".
By their fruits you will recognize them.
I thiks it's just fine to help out without knowing the full details of what's involved. You can always back out, freewill and all. Besides, what harm could it really do as long as you don't allow yourself to be taken advantage of.

I don't reply to much on here, however I wish you the best of luck in your attempt to re-establish a relationship with your brother. The case you lay out for him is very compelling, clear, and nonconfrontational. You may be suprised at the response you recieve. Even if he responds negitively, it would be a clear sign you touched a nerve, that deep down he needs his family also.

I have to say if nothing else, this thread has been a soothing break from christmas with the in-laws. Now that I have reached the end I guess I'll revert back to drinking.
in short......i am surprised of the organisations involvement with the u.n......had the damaging effect to the degree that it did......upon those who learned of it.. when the 'generation change' occured in 94', i thought there would be a bigger fallout.
when the voting issue happened, i thought it would cause quite a stir.
with "dateline" and "fifth estate" uncovering child molestation issue among jehovah's witnesses....i thought many would fall out.. what gets me is the amount , that were effected by the u.n. scandle.
One of the straws that broke it for me was finding out they had written a letter in support of Jimmy Swaggert, as a friend of the court, to assist his ministry in an attempt to avoid paying sales tax on literature. So much for Ceaser's things to Ceaser.

almost from the beginning,the bible student--jehovah's witness movement has had its severe critics.in the past criticism was ordinarily directed at its doctrinal,civic or blood transfusion issues.
some dissidents who broke with the society also censured the wt.authority struture and inconsistencies in wt.theology.a few attempted to take their concern to the general public.. beginning in about 1980 all of that changed.in the past little harm came to the society from their critics.however devastating criticism has been unleashed against the society,especially since 1980. this devastating criticism has been leveled at the heart of the society's history of ever-changing date setting speculation,shifting and changing doctrine,and the concealment-of-errors strategies has been exposed by recourse to wt.literature itself.. the wt.officials have no recourse ( because they are unable to respond adequately ) but, to declare all dissidents as apostates and forbid the reading of all anti-witness materials.including on the internet.which includes this forum maintained by simon and all who have an in-put here-in.. good work everyone and welcome to the team of the ever growing critical study of jehovah's witnesses.. blueblades.
While I welcome the critical analysis of the JW's it disturbs me a little that the governing body "laughs" any critics off as being apostate.
Then they take the same critique's and present them to the rank and file as an example of persecution, there by making all faithful Witnesses close ranks and defend the weak belief structure even harder.
It's nearly a perfect cult mentality.
