Well....if that was said to me or my kid, you would not be able to find the skinny tie. It would be placed in the general area of the Elders anatomy where the sun don't shine! lol -

I am sorry to hear about your Dad. Don't cause a thing. Now is not the time to do that. Just say thank you and try and reflect on the positive memories and people in your life. You will never change a uber JW. They are taught not to think, just conform.

Who compared the KH donation arrangement to that of a never ending mortgage?
by Boeing Stratofortress init was one of the commenters replying to another thread, but i cannot find it.
it was a great rant & well thought out.
it basically put in simple terms how the donation arrangement is like being forgiven of your 10 year mortgage, then being told you should 'donate' an amount equal to your monthly mortgage payment, but indefinitely.. i'd really like to find that person's reply, so i can use the same logic with some of my family members.

Bottom line....you're Hall will never be paid off with their brilliant scheme. Wake up people...they did not cancel your mortgage. It's a scam with Jehovahs name on it! That's how dirty rotten scoundrels work!

Here it is:
I hope that writing this, there will be some Lurkers that I can shake.
If you have not listened to Mays TV broadcast, please do. It may wake some up.
Note @ around 21-22 minutes into the broadcast Lett brings up the the Kingdom Halls/Assembly Hall loans have been cancelled and the congregation can now send in what they can afford. Wow...how many banks would do that?
What Lett fails to mention, is that there was a BOE letter regarding this. Page 1 was to be read to the congregation but page 2 and 3 were for the Elders eyes only. Well, on page 2 the question is asked: " What amount should be used for this new resolved monthly donation?
The answer: "The elders in congregations currently making loan repayments would likely propose a resolution that is at least the same amount as the current monthly loan repayment"
Ok, think about this...my bank (who holds my mortgage) calls me up and tells me that they are going to cancel my mortgage (cool!) BUT I have to continue to send the same amount to them every month for the remainder of my life. Let's say my mortgage would have been paid off in 10 years with my original mortgage. Cool...now I have a paid off home in 10 years. Now...the new way, let's say I live until I am 80 years old. Now I have to pay them the same amount for another 30 years? Ok, I am not a mathematician here but who's getting the raw end of the deal here? Me, me, me!!! I am an idiot if I go along with it.
It also asks the question on Page 3 of the letter: "What should be done if congregation funds are not sufficient to cover resolved donations?"
The Answer: "If sufficient funds are not available for all resolved donations in a particular month, additional funds should not be solicited. The elders should determine what amounts from the congregation funds that are available at the end of the month will be applied toward the re-solved monthly donation(s) and whether the shortfall should be made up in future months."
Ok, so don't solicit the funds but we will get the short fall in future months. Lett states that the "congregation can send in what they can afford." This is not sending in what you can afford. The congregation either has to send in the amount from the end of month available funds in the congregation or make up for it later.
Most publishers do not know that there is a Page 2 and 3 of the letter. There is a reason for that. Why not read page 2 and 3 to the Congregation. Do they have something to hide?
I listened to the May Broadcast and then directly read the BOE letter. I am disgusted!
I have been raised in this organization and at one time had some hope in these "men." They are dirty rotten scoundrels, living off of the ones trying to survive on what we can. They are cashing checks from little old ladies/men who are living off of rice and beans. They are using people for free labor!
It hurts that we all have been duped (including me at one time). No more!
Please everyone, vote with your wallets and THINK.
Rant over.

"And some of us, like myself, remain "in the fold" as silently active dissidents who are striving under the current circumstances in our local congregations to increase a more abundant spirit of love, compassion, and mercy -- and truth."
Unfortunately, our family has not met any of these silent active dissidents. The lack of love, compassion and mercy is something we have not experienced. I guess our area was skipped over. This goes further than just the GB, it is the CO's, pioneers, publishers and Elders who lack these qualities as well.
I could NEVER shun my children or a close friend. DF'ing is not done with a spirit of love, compassion and mercy. It is cruel and it hurts.

Welcome. It is sad that you have lost friends and family. I hate the DF'ing policy. It's one of the many many reasons my family left the JW organization. They try and tell you its loving but that is BS.
Keep reading here, you will learn so much.
You are son young. You have your whole life in front of you. Make new friends and move on with your wonderful life.
There are some really kind people on this site and a lot of different experiences.

The present Governing Body will rule the U.S.A.
by John Aquila ini havent gone to meetings in about 1 year and a half.
one of my neighbors who is a jw-lady told me that the co on the last visit said that its very likely that right after armageddon (which is just around the corner) the present governing body members will be in charge of the united states since they are familiar with the culture.
and that the apostles and early christians will be in charge of areas like china.

Apostate views?
by Richard C B inif a brother is starting to look at material on the internet and starts to have serious doubts about the jw organisation and questions the integrity of the governing body.
what steps would be taken to by the congregation to readjust his thinking.
and also if the congregation is not aware of this but he has confided in an individual how would that individual try to help such a brother?.

Richard C B , I agree it would be bad advice for an Elder to tell you to do more but that is what they will do. It's all about the busy work. If you're busy, you don't have time to think. They don't want you to think, they want you to conform. Thinkers are not allowed in this organization. This website if full of thinkers. Keep reading here, you will learn A LOT. Lots of good people here. Go back and read previous posts on here, there are SO MANY different and disturbing stories people have experienced.
