"Never would we want them to lose their joy or to sigh because of something we do. Rather, by our obedience and submission, we “give them extraordinary consideration in love because of their work.”—1 Thess. 5:13."
How about when the shoe is one the other foot? Do the Elders ever consider when they make the rank and file loose their joy or sigh? My past experience with some Elders has been they could not give a rats ass if they cause you any pain or sorrow. When I see the love return to the JW religion, then I MAY have some respect for these "Men". Respect is earned not given freely.
What we have experienced over the past year or two with an Elder (COBE) is disturbing to say the least. I will give respect where it is due and when it is earned.

Animals were created without needing Toilet Paper ... but not Man ... Why???
by RubaDub inmy dog and other pets do their "business" and run away and are happy.. man does not have that luxury.
any thoughts on why animals were created with the "poop and go" capacity while man has to go through more steps?
was this perhaps an additional issue that god added on when adam and eve sinned (such as eve having significant more birth pains)?

Wow, that is fantastic. You know you stated you had no friends outside of JW. Yes you do, you are married to him. What a wonderful man. He probably has had doubts for quite a while but was afraid of your response and you were both going through the emotions but afraid to approach the other mate. You took a chance and it paid off well.
Be careful how much you tell others. In fact, don't tell anyone anything. You will be surprised who will throw you under the bus. If you have to vent, vent to your husband or come on here. Trust no one who knows you.
We would love to get our families out of this cult but we have come to realize that it just won't happen. Some are one the fringes and others are uber as hell. We can't always control what others do. We still love our family dearly but we have been realistic in our thoughts on them leaving. We have told them nothing. We just don't trust anyone anymore. We have one another and that is enough. Our children were young enough to get them out and our oldest child know it was a sham of a religion before we left. Smart kid.
You will be hitting some bumpy roads ahead but it is worth the freedom. We have enjoyed our lives like never before. Just remember, keep your mouth in check. Once you reveal things to most, they believe they are doing you a favor and go talk to the elders. Don't give others the control over you and if they try to take the wheel, don't let them. YOU are in control.
Keep us posted on your progress. Enjoy life...it's short!

The "excuses" used by Witnesses....
by stuckinarut2 inhave you noticed how witnesses feel that they need to use an "excuse" or "reason" for any big personal decision they make?.
for instance, if they want to move to another part of the world it is "to serve where the need is greater, or to help the truth" (rather than "we just wanted to move to....because we have always wanted to live there").
or if they want a holiday many will say "oh we will "help the local brothers while we are there..." .

Yes...lots of excuses:
"No higher education. We are taking the societies recommendation to not seek a higher education but to see Jehovahs Kingdom first."
Now these ones are getting older and can not make ends meet.
"We don't want to bring children into this wicked system." Now these ones are getting older and have missed out in raising a family that they really wanted and they have no one to assist them in their old age.
Lots of excuses that are now coming back to bite them.

Welcome.
Wow you weren't kidding, that was a Jerry Springer episode if I ever heard one. lol
Thank you for sharing your story. Glad you are happy!
I think there are more "sisters" out their doing their thing with other "sisters" than they lead us to believe. I agree with Sparky1 above....don't ask, don't tell.

let's set aside our differences for the moment and appreciate this excellent documentary cedars put together that should prove to be an invaluable tool in helping to expose the child abuse issues in the organization.. i was humbled to be able to help with this project on such an important subject, though my part in it was insignificant..

How did you feel when they eliminated the Con. Book Study?
by Freeandclear inyears ago when i was "in" i loved the book study.
it was my favorite meeting by far.
mainly because it was a small group.

We wish they had eliminated the TMS instead. The most boring meeting. The Book study was actually somewhat enjoyable. We had a fun group.
What shocked us the most was the letter that was read to all congregations. They stated that they did not want to burden the brothers and sisters. We were always taught that this was our "go to" place, in case of emergency. We were told it was as important as any of the other meetings. Now it was a burden? hmmm
Funny how when the BS was on it was important but then when they decided to eliminate it, it was a burden. How convenient.
