  i don't think i shared this story yet, it's strange and although i did a little detective work trying to figure out who said what and when i never found out much, big surprise, jehovah's witnesses love their secrets as we all know... but i thought other posters might find this interesting both in and of itself, because of what an elder told me one sunday back in 2011, and because of what it could imply as to high-ranking jehovah's witnesses prophesying the date of armageddon.

  specific dates went out the window in 1975, although governing body helper ken flodin hinted at 2040 in a talk uploaded to jw.org a couple years back, and the governing body hinted at 2034 in a watchtower back in the 90s.

  but it might be, just might, that more specific date-setting still goes on behind closed doors in certain circuits.... so after i went to "meetings" and talked to witnesses for a couple years at a rural congregation in the eastern united states an elder pulled me aside one service into the vestibule at the hall, in other words, into a private area where no one would overhear us.

  WT wrote an article in 1969 that told our family members that they would not even finish their education. Those family members are now in their late sixties to early seventies. Guess what? They have NO education, no money and no retirement plan. They are working low wage, hard labor jobs. Deep down inside we know that they are scratching their heads. They won't admit it.

  My spouse and I are at the point that we would rather live here and now than spend eternity with the JW nutters. Just my 2 cents.

  RBC... something I heard this weekend and I want to confirm

  i have not been around much or even cared to dig into jw land.

  i been working on moving to a new place and leaving behind my old jw past, even the neighborhood where it all happened.. but something i heard this weekend had me thinking.

  my mother in law has a small, run down wooden home near the kh where we used to attend.

  a person born in, and whose parents or family pressured to shun because they simply left the religion, who has evidence of damages, etc, would likely have a good case if they find a good lawyer.

  I have always told my spouse that I believe the shunning will become a legal issue for WT. Let's hope so. It is the most manipulative and bullying tactic that a "loving" organization can use on others. Blackmail!!

  so satan is the ruler of the world and he is hellbent on destroying gods people, why?

  satan controls 99.9 % of the world except for one little obscure religious group that no one pays any attention to.

  Satan is WT's "boggie man." We hear it ALL the time from family, "Satan is working overtime. Satan really has a hold on you, blah blah blah." You all have heard it. WT's "boggie man" keeps a hold on our family. They are frightened of their own shadows, which keeps them from thriving in any way. They are broke, uneducated, old and part of a cult. Sucks to be them!!!

  in stephen letts annual meeting talk he spent about 15min.

  talking about how the garden of eden compares to our spiritual paradise that we are currently inhabiting.

  he didn't mention the earthly paradise until the very last sentence.

  You Don't Have to Tell the Elders Anything!

  if you were ever brought before a judicial committee, and were about to be interrogated by the elders, just remember...you owe them nothing.

  they are mere men and no better than you!

  even if it wasn’t a judicial interrogation , you should never feel obligated to them.

  My spouse and I did exactly that. Gave them NOTHING!! They tried. Still NOTHING!! They were very perplexed why we didn't cower to their "invisible authority." lol

  Once we let our family know that we no longer believe this, everything went out the window. NOW, we don't care, we tell em WT is a fraud!!!

  I was asked the "apostate question." You know the one, "do you believe the GB is Jah's earthly organization?" Something along that line. What was my "sin?" Not going to the meetings anymore. No love, no encouragement and zero concern. Just yes or no. That's all they want, the yes or no answer. The answer they got was NOTHING! I don't owe them anything, not even a yes or no. Ever since, life has gotten much much better. Without this cult in our lives, life is actually worth living and I'm saving lots of money without the booze I needed while still in.

  I feel sorry for the one's "laid off." As Anthony Morris stated in his anti education rant, "who dropped you off there?" As sorry as I feel for these ones, they are some of the one's who condemned those who pursued higher education or had successful companies and careers. NOW, these ones are looking to those who can help them financially. The very one they themselves condemned. "Who dropped them off there?"
