So my dad comes from vacation and ???!!!

hello folks.....so in an earlier thread i started, you'd realize that my father and i are quite close, we talk about almost everything/anything.. he traveled outside the country (he's semi-retired), enjoying the fruitage of his hard labor during his younger years.

so he recently returned home after he and mum went away to catchup with some old friends in another country.. upon his returning home, and subsequently to the meetings, he was told that a decision was made to strip him of his "field overseer" role, but will still continue to be an elder.. the reason...he goes away for too long too often...you can't be away from your congregation for three months out of the year!!!???

has anyone else had this experience before?

i was deleted as the cobe after i let my adult child move back home and he admitted that he fornicated under my roof while my wife and i where away on a rbc project.

of course the elder mode in me kicked him out of the house.. the elders moved quickly to remove me because i was too involved in "theocractic activities", i had neglected my adult son.. i accepted this primarily because i didn't want to serve with a boe that did not want me.

i was devastated however because it was the only life i knew.

I really give you guys ALOT of credit that can contain yourself with some of these a holes. If this had been said to me all bets would be off. I don't care how much family or friends I would loose, this one would have pushed me over the edge. There are just 2 words that come to my mind that I would have relayed to the 2 Elders and they have to do with having relations with yourself.

These are the threads that really confirm how abusive these people are. Incredible!! So glad EVERYDAY we escaped!!!!

hello forum,.

i'm new here and not sure where to post.

so, i'm 21 years old and currently a baptized witness, however, i'm slowly making my mind up to leave and here's why.. first, there are certain things that make no sense to me in the organization.

You are one of the lucky ones. The reason I say this is because you are so incredibly young. You have your whole wonderful life in front of you.

My family and I have faded. It's been 2+ years since we have been to a meeting. We are both born ins. We have exited with our children.

Reading your post is exactly the same reasons why we decided to leave. The hypocrisy, lack of love and climbing the JW ladder is mind boggling. It was not until we left that we started to read things like JW facts, Crisis of Conscience by Ray Franz and came on this site. That is when we learned TTATT (The Truth About the Truth). Once you start learning the false doctrines and failed predictions you can not go back. You will learn about how the JW's were affiliated with the United Nations. One thing that really affected me was a place called Beth Sarim. This was a mansion that Rutherford lived in. The story behind that is interesting and Crazy. Rutherford also drove 2 Cadillacs during the depression. You have so much to learn it's incredible.

The most important thing we can tell you is DO NOT TALK TO ANYONE about what you are leaning. They will DF you so quick it will make your head spin. We have each other to talk to but we also come on this site to vent and read other peoples experiences. There are so many people that are going thru and have been thru what you will experience. There are some really good people on this site. Some you may agree with others, not so much. It's ok...you gotta do what works for you.

Use your depression to fade out. If the brothers come around use the depression to miss meetings, field service, etc. Do not share what you are learning with anyone. Trust no one. Like you said...they ARE NOT YOUR FRIENDS.

Take it slow and know we are all here for you.

Mormon 'support' for gays, pressure on the WTS?

the mormon / lds church has noticably changed it's stance toward homosexuality and instead of condemning it seems to be supporting protection for people's rights (of course they want to throw some protection for themselves in there as well).. how will this affect the wts?

the lds is the more-successful counterpart to the wts, similar age and history and same non-mainstream appeal.. i have no doubt that the lds church is only changing because they know which way the wind is blowing and society has completely changes it's attitudes towards gay people.

maybe they just want to stay ahead pf the curve before federal legislation enforces people's rights.. now, can we see the wts changing their views" will they be one of the last holdouts?

i would have to say that ray franz was the biggest influence for me.. when i first got on this board, a poster by the name of james, a former bethelite and organization heavy, helped me understand a lot of the inner workings in the upper echelons of the society.. .

and of course, farkel's common sense approach was (usually) helpful..

We initially left due to the lack of love & hypocrisy.

Once we read COC by Ray Franz then we learned TTATT.

Once you learn TTATT you can never go back! It's a dear breaker!

remember this and other threads a few months back, on the subject that some kingdom halls in chile acquiesced to govt rules that every building should display the national flag on the day of celebration?.

I agree, it's good they may be lightening up on some things BUT they are still reeking havoc on peoples lives (shunning, tight pants talks, 23 year old MS's, I could go on and on).

I sometimes wonder how the families and friends that had to let their loved ones die during the NO ORGAN TRANSPLANTS era. How did they feel when the change was made? Betrayed? Of course they did. The attitude is..."Well they took a stand for Jehovah. We will see them again SOON." I think these people have a book they pull out to get all of these crazy catch phrases ("trust in Jehovah, Leave it in Jehovahs hands, the proper food at the proper time, the light get brighter"). Come on people...WAKE UP!!!

A family member of mine was given an extremely hard time because they had to wear a county issued uniform (civil service) that had an american flag on it. I found a Questions from Readers article regarding the same issue related in the letter in the OP. It stated the same thing....if you are not involved in a ceremony you can raise the flag (if it does not bother your conscience). I mentioned this to them and they looked at me like I was out of my mind. I told them to go look it up!!!! Where is the "united in worship"? Are we not supposed to be UNITED (they brag about this).

Like others have mentioned in other posts, these people don't even know what their beliefs are.

This incidence was one (one of many) that was the straw that broke the camels back.

The judgmental attitudes and the hypocrisy is just too incredible for us.

I'd rather take a permanent dirt nap than than spend eternity with these people!
