Make A Wish Trip to JW.ORG
by konceptual99 ina sick little girl goes to ny to meet caleb and sophia for her make a wish trip.. http://www.kmph.com/category/170789/video-landing-page?clipid=11142038&autostart=true.
i don't want to make too much comment as there is an innocent and poorly young girl at the heart of this but i do have to wonder what the purpose of the parents courting the media's attention over this really was..

Cute little girl and a sad story.
Funny how the parents made sure they plugged JW dot org. The t shirt and pin on the Dad's shirt.
Make a wish is a fantastic organization. I fine it interesting that the JW organization has sold millions of dollars in Real Estate and is building their new resort in NY but can not afford to send a family to Brooklyn on their dime (to see there own facility). All take and no give. Nothing new!

Lots of old timers are scratching their heads over that one. They may not ever leave this cult but the are scratching their heads. We hear it all the time from the older family members. -

Has anyone heard any Watchtower PR spin or censorship advisory announcement at the kingdom hall regarding the child abuse story on NPR?
by Island Man ini remember some years ago when barbara did an expose of the child abuse issue on one of the networks, watchtower used the elders to inform the congregations not to view the program that was to be aired.
.
after this recent expose on npr, has there been any official watchtower release read as an announcement at the kingdom hall?.

How many JWs really believe the end will come "soon"?
by BU2B inthis topic has been on my mind lately.
i have been looking around at jws and wondering how many truly believe the end is as near as they are told.
from my personal experience, i know that my parents fully believe the end is imminent and may come any time now.

If you look at alot of the older ones they have that WTF look on their face(s).
How many Elders have their kids in college? Are they buying into the "end is just around the corner?" Unfortunately, some still buy into it but not as much as they used to.
We have watched our aging family members have to struggle financially and physically (due to menial labor jobs). They have that WTF look too! They never thought they would be where they are today. We NEVER thought that way. We got some education (not as much as we should have), got married, bought a home and had kids. Thank goodness we lived our OWN lives and not the Watchtowers!

What comforts you when you no longer believe in a ressurrection ?
by EdenOne inour family just lost someone dear and very close, a faithful jw.
as we went through the entire funeral services and meeting long time brothers and sisters, who in general have been very kind and warm towards us, we realize that the hope of resurrection is a meaningless utopia for us, like a fairytale for little children.
we don't have faith in it anymore, and serves us of no comfort.

That I lived my life to the best of my ability. That we raised great kids that have respect for each day they are breathing. To have happiness (something we can have today not in the future) and health. Have great memories of the ones we have lost. To accept that we too will die and hope we have made a positive impact on someones life while we were here. -

Is the preaching work, no longer the number 1 priority?
by ToesUp ini have been observing a pattern in recent wtbs publications and events.
is the importance of the preaching activity no longer the number 1 priority?
are not billions of lives still at stake?.

We are born in's like many on this site. When you have watched for 50+ years your family give their blood, sweat and tears into the "preaching work". Now we have to watch these older ones in our family struggle financially and do hard labor in their old age because they were told all their lives that this generation will not pass away. This is the hope that they (and us) were baptized under.
Now things have changed a bit. It's called, changing the rules in the middle of the game. Makes ALOT of these older ones scratch their head in disbelief.
So for these older ones to have to sit their and see the order of importance go to the Watchtowers assets, it's incredible. They certainly do see it...we are hearing it first hand.

I am sorry that you are going through all of those problems. We had a very similar story. Our situation (financial) changed overnight. I can not tell you the whole story because I do not want to reveal too much.
We were both born in's. We thought that our "Brothers and Sisters" would always be there for us. Not true. While we were going through our situation, only one Elder out of a fairly large Body of Elders had any kind of concern for our family. Nothing!!! We were not asking for money just a little bit of concern or kindness would have been nice.
We were both raised in kind/loving families. We expected that same kindness and love from our congregation. After all this is what we were taught. We both (husband and wife) are hard workers and would never ask for money when we are both capable people and can work hard. All we were asking for was kindness. It didn't happen and that was the straw that broke the camels back for us. We left due to the lack of love. We always relied upon the scripture @ John 13:35 "By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another" and we received NOTHING in a difficult time, not even a kind/encouraging word. So in reality we left due to lack of love and hypocrisy. After all actions speak louder than words.
I do not believe you are the only one who is feeling this way. Many are on this website.
We have learned to rely only on ourselves due to the way we have been treated. We actually have become stronger people and a stronger couple. Our children are both working VERY hard also. I guess we have done something right.
If someone on the "outside" (I hate the word worldly) offers you some assistance, take it. There is good and bad everywhere and kindness can be shown from some wonderful people outside of this organization.
I wish you all the best.
