Money woes show it ain't the truth
by OnTheWayOut injehovahs people do not beg for money.
[...] we have never considered it proper to solicit money for the lords cause, after the common custom .
it is our judgment that money raised by the various begging devices in the name of our lord is offensive, unacceptable to him, and does not bring his blessing either upon the givers or the work accomplished.

Tough Day & wanting to escape
by Olivia Wilde inso today after my workout at the gym, i was driving away from the parking lot, notice 2 witnesses on the sidewalk with their witness cart, one older man with a young female, related?
not sure but as i drove away it finally hit me, all this buildup & staying strong since my awakening finally hit me .... just crying & saw my life flashing before my eyes just couldn't keep myself strong anymore, especially thinking of my child & other things happening in my life currently, which are hitting reality...... i came home & had a conversation with my son about our weekly mtgs, we have missed the ms mtgs for a few times/days in a row now, does anyone check on us?
... anyway i finally told him that for the time being mommy needs to figure out some things with god & jesus first & for the time being won't be making the ms mtgs & will be doing our bible study at home... thankfully he understands & just told him that god understands how i feel & is ok with it.... it's difficult to feel alone in this, i feel broken with the other things happening in my life, not wt or jw related, & just want to escape & run away, i don't have many friends & my non jw family is not a close family, we were never close, & i feel like i don't have anyone to talk to.... people that know me & interact with me have no clue the turmoil i'm going thru inside, i pretend like nothing is wrong with my life .

Olivia
The hardest thing for me was coming to the realization that all of these people (so called friends and family) were all conditional. Even the ones who have more problems than I do have not called, texted or written since we left (almost 3 years). The most difficult thing I had to face was knowing these people really didn't care about me and my family. Once I faced that head on, I was able to move forward. Keep yourself busy, find something you like to do and focus on that. Try making some new friends (non JW's). You will be surprised how many people will be kind and actually like you for who you really are not just because you belong to "the club."
Time heals. Hang in there and hugs to you.

Double Standards in the JW world
by nevaagain inno other organization has so many written and unwritten rules like the jws.
so it comes to no suprise that there are a lot of double standards.. even though the end is "near", wt is building new and bigger offices.
while the small jw should live in a closet and should make plans to have a bigger house in the new world.

Something clicked in me when I watched one of the Elders get up on the stage and read the anti education Watchtower a few years ago. His children are all in college. I had a WTF moment and that is when something changed in me. I have nothing against education (I am all for it) but the double standards are just incredible! -

We missed you at the meetings
by punkofnice ina vomit inducing comment.. i asked why do they have to specify 'meetings'?
they never miss us in tesco or the showcase cinema bar.. in their defence, a friend of mine said: 'that's because the meeting is where they normally would see you.'.
well, if they want to see you they can arrange a meal out or something.

They are just empty words. I think the JW's have a book of canned things to say. I think you are spot on...." we're at the meeting because we're spiritually strong and you're not as good as we are!" Like my spouse said the other day, where else can you be a window washer/janitor by day and the pope at night? -

How was it when you were a JW as a kid?
by nevaagain inwhats worse than being an adult jw?
when i was a kid i always had a bad concience all the time.
i believed i would not survive armageddon for the fact that i didn't like going to service and i didnt like going to the meetings.

I wanted OUT at age 14. I wasn't "allowed" to no longer attend (dad was an Elder).
The way I was treated in the congregation as a young person was despicable. The way I was treated has affected me to this day. I don't trust too many people (actually, only my spouse) . I was treated better by my "worldly" friends at school.
The only good that came out of being a JW, is I met my spouse and now have our wonderful kids. Now we are all FREE!

An incident was reported to me at a cong near me.
by poopie inthis df persons walks up to the cood and says i would like to give you my reinstatement letter because i have been attending meetings here ,the cood says do not give me that letter i need to observe you first then you can rurn in letter i ask my friend is that something new?
the person only wants to return because they want to speak to there mother and father and siblings so thats the resl reason but now they have to sit and wait for this elder to observe them what hypocrites.

Nice moment today
by Theburstbubble inso it's been a few months since i last went to a meeting but i've still had lots of guilty feelings about leaving, such as am i doing the right thing, thinking about friends and family, where do i go from here etc etc.
but i think once you stop believing you can't go back.. anyway, today i had a very nice experience.
my daughter had been to nursery today and when she got home i asked her what she had done and she excitedly told me they had been doing pumpkins.

GB "OUR KINGS"
by wannaexit ini was at the one day assembly and the bethel speaker in talking about governing body member klein -referred to him as our king.
.
wonder if governing body members will be so presumptuous to expect this title from the rank and file?.

Today's watchtower: obey us, no matter what
by Tornintwo intoday's watchtower:.
obey us, obey us even when it seems strange, obeying our man made hierarchy equates to obeying god, sacrifice your own interests, work for us, don't be independent, put your own interests aside, obey some more, preach for us, build for us, enjoy it, obey some more, forgive when we are jerks to you and mistreat you, accept your changed assignment even if it seems cruel and doesn't make sense, don't complain if we move you (eg.
) because you might have to move in the new world, remember you are being trained to obey, remember to put your own interests aside, that's the way we are designed to live - it will only make you happy!

“Personal interests and pleasures will have their place in God’s new world"
“Recreation and relaxation have their place, but the pleasure derived from them is increased when we put our relationship with Jehovah first”
Translation...You can have a good satisfying life in the future. Put your relationship with Jehovah (aka the org.) first. Give us your all (your money too) and you can have a satisfying life.
It's so hard to believe we ever thought along the same lines as these master manipulators.
Look at some of the old timers faces. They have the WTF look. We know of some (family members ) who are still work hard menial labor jobs (in their late 60's early 70's), with no end in sight of qutting or retiring. They can't or they would starve to death. It's like they have been waiting on a train that will never arrive to take them to their promised destination. Sad! I truly feel for these ones. At least we are young enough to enjoy the life we have today. I hope the majority of the young ones are running in the opposite direction. I think the internet is blowing a gaping hole in the JW belief system.
