  Seen smoking a cigarette

  i won't say i got "caught" because that would imply i was keeping my habit hidden.

  i'm tired of constantly doing that with these guys.

  yesterday, my friend and i were waiting for some people and decided to smoke a cigarette to pass the time.

  It's funny how they are afraid of someone smoking a cigarette but are fine with a person in the hall that is a pedofile. Crazy people!

  when i first met my wife and on that so important first date i was 21 years old and sadly broke, she was an 18 year old au pair.

  any way i treated her to mcdonald's but she had to pay for the meal.

  now over 20 years later and still together, i realize how lucky i was she didn't say on that first date " if you can't afford to pay "our" mcdonald's meal f...off" .

  I guess it depends on how much you really like the person you are sitting across from.

  My spouse (married over 30 years) sometimes "forgot" his wallet . I (the woman) paid. It's cool....I liked him. He is the ONLY guy I really liked. We were best friends then and still are. We are very fortunate (as JW's would say...blessed).

  There may come a time in life when the wife makes more money or has to support the family financially. It's no big deal, we are a team and the money goes in the family "pot." That may not work for some, but it worked great for us. It still does.

  JW hospitality

  about 5 years ago when i was in, my son who at the time was 18 needed somewhere to sleep for a couple of nights due to work commitments ,in a city 2 hours from home.

  my "best man" who is an elder that lives in this city , was asked could my son stay a couple of nights .

  the response was he doesn't go to meetings anymore ,he can't stay here , i ask can he sleep on garage floor instead , still can't stay .

  Can’t cope with being disfellowshipped…..Need some advice

  this site is great, i have been lurking for a while now.

  but i can’t get reinstated and have used some of the advice already given.. i was df’d many months ago and go to all the meetings and do all the preparation for the meetings, but the jc committee keep refusing me.

  tomorrow at the clam meeting i am puting yet another letter in and will be called for another dreadful jc meeting.. 1. what can i say to the elders to show that i am truly repentant?.

  Welcome Betty. It is sad the emotional abuse these "men" (no holy spirit) lay upon their "spiritual family."

  Everyone's reason for going back is typically to get contact with their family. Emotional blackmail. It's not my place to judge you. You are a better person than I am. I would do as someone else said and go tell em to F off.

  We have a family member that the Elders did the same thing to him/her. Made him/her grovel for 2 years. Shame on them! It sickens me how they do this to people. No love.

  Do what feels right to you. But I (no judgement here) would run like hell. If your family doesn't want you back, screw em.

  Where else is the world do people do this to others? Just in a few crazy cults. I have 2 kids and wild horses couldn't get me away from them. EVER!

  Keep reading and learning. There is more about this cult than meets the eye. Do as someone said, go to JW facts. I learned so much there. I finally figured out why WT doesn't want you to go on the internet. It exposes them for the liars they really are!

  as we know, every month on the "official broadcasting" presentation, a new "music video" is presented.. can these possibly be any more cringe-worthy??.

  the words, music, singing are so, so bad....i mean, so bad!.

  surely witnesses are not so stupid that they don't harbor secret feelings of awkwardness when they see these?.

  We don't attend anymore BUT the cart music video was a kicker! If we were still in and present when that was being shown, you would have had to peel us off the floor, we would be laughing out loud. That one was beyond words.

  hi all, just wondering if there's anything going around about the elders receiving instruction from the society to give inactive ones and disfellowshipped ones one last chance to come back?

  i ask because i have a still in family member that i received a message from, and urging me to go back.

  the elders are apparently saying there is no time left.

  "I was recently handed the "Return" pamphlet by a local elder. I read it and realized that it doesn't address my personal grievances. I was more moved by the fact that the brother remembered me and cared enough to drop by.

  Then I heard that CO week was coming up and it tainted the whole thing. They love making a good report about themselves to the CO!"

  Exactly! You think they care but then you realize it is time for the ole CO visit. You are just a check box on a list of "to do's" before the CO visit. Yeah...that's genuine! What a bunch of as* kissers.

  a few weeks back i showed the guardian article about the borg refusing to cooperate with the charity commission into child abuse to a fellow jw.

  their response was quite amazing.

  they told me that in the 50s-80s people didn't know about child abuse, didn't know it was wrong and no one really believed children when they claimed they had been abused - even worldly people.. they said that alot of the time children lie about being abused or therapists plant false memories in their heads and that apostates lie about being abused to undermine our faith.. about the borg not cooperating with the commission they said that it was probably because they wanted to protect the identities of jw's who had been abused.

  Back in the day they also said "no blood transfusions....none. NOW, you can take blood fractions (where's the scripture?). Years ago the said, "no organ transplants." Now they are saying we didn't know we were supposed to stay away from kids? You have to ask yourself, how many lives have been affected or lives have ended due to WT's changing doctrine? How many lives over the years were cut short that could have been saved? How many people's lives have been cut short (suicide) or ruined because of WT policy on child abuse? WT's nonchalant attitude will come back to bite them? It will be a pleasure to watch WT and the GB squirm when they have to answer for their "policies."

  WT Study - 28th Aug 2016 - “Do Not Let the Faults of Others Stumble You”

  in paragraph 2 of this study, the gbojw evidences once again that they are sticking to the absurd 1914 doctrine – “when the last days of the present system began...”.

  i noted that as 2014 approached, the gbojw became somewhat reticent about making reference to revelation 12:12 – the “short period of time” scripture.

  so this study is the first one in a long time in which both the 1914 doctrine and revelation 12:12 are mentioned in the same study.
