As to the travelling overseers that is a different history, they have been well placed; sometimes even choosing the congregation. They are seen as "princes" and most of them are still getting a lot of the "handshakes"
We know personally that some retired CO's and their wives are receiving housing. Any housing for the "laid off" Bethelites? Me thinks not!

We NEVER gave out a golden handshake. I always thought that the Elders did a lot of hard work for zero pay. I watched my Dad give of himself in the congregation, work a full time job with a lot of over time and raise a large family. Did he get a green/golden handshake? NEVER, he had to make it on his own, all the while giving more and more to WT. WT has discouraged going to college which provides kids the opportunity to get a better job and make a decent living. Then on the other hand they want you to give until it hurts (for "kingdumb interests). A prime example of WT double speak. One of the main reasons we exited...HYPOCRISY!

We were only lowly publishers. We were good for cleaning, donations and typically filling seats at the KH. My spouse never felt the need for added "privileges." He knew once he became a MS they would dump all over him. So glad to be free!
so a week or so ago we received an invitation for a jw friend's wedding anniversary party in the mail.it was addressed to 'the andersen family' (and not just mrs. andersen & baby andersen) which was pleasant of course, but not a huge surprise given the type of person who said friend is.. however, i already prepared myself to be uninvited after all.
some time ago, there was a congregation farewell party/get-together.to my surprise, i was invited too!
an elder specifically came over to my house to tell me.then some weeks later, he visited again, being terribly sorry but the invitation was revoked as the congregation got concerned over my possible presence.. with that debacle in mind, i wasn't surprised to receive a message from my friend 'hey are you at home?
"When the week of the party came around, we texted my mom for details (time and place). That's when we were told we were no longer invited. No explanation was given, but we both knew. They wanted it to be a JW-only affair."
And they wonder why you don't want to come back. You just can't make this sh*t up!

If your a heavy contributor to WT they will tell all about your time, effort and donations towards Kingdumb interests. If you're a lowly publisher, they stick to the outline. We experienced this first hand with an friend who died. It's all in WHO you know.

within the organization, jehovah's witnesses know that they must be dutiful and set an example for "worldly ones" as well as for their own brotherhood.
if a witness fails in setting the proper example, they may lose some 'privileges"..... what privileges did you look to have and what privileges did you lose?

We were always taught at the KH the all "privileges" are equal and important to Jah.
Okay? My spouse lost his "privileges" due to not quite hitting the unwritten/unscriptual WT rule about the national average...10 hours. He lost, reading the WT, holding a mic, running the sound and praying. BUT...his "privileges" of cleaning the toilets, cleaning the KH, taking the speaker to dinner, giving the CO a green handshake (even thought these assh*les wouldn't give em the time of day). Then there was the "privileges" of cleaning the assembly hall, making hoagies at 4am (back in the day).
I'm sure you all get my drift. "All privileges are special in Jahs eyes." Yeah....right! Another load of BS from WT!
