I was born in and at 16 one of my friends was going to get baptized and was excited that he would be able to hold the microphone during the Watchtower study. I was a bit jealous so I decided to get baptized as well so I could also hand the microphone to people during the meeting. Never knew at the time it was the worst mistake I'd ever make. Been shunned by my whole family now for 16 years. WOW!

When You Were A JW Did You Really Understand The Religion and What You Were Getting Into?
by minimus inmany witnesses in my opinion know nothing about the religion.
they don’t understand the history, the doctrines or the bible.
many people become jws because they were raised as witnesses so they take the plunge.

Waking up can be a scary time
by Leopold theseconed inas a person that has recently come to terms with the reality that the truth is not really the truth .
does anyone else remember the feeling when they realized things were just not true.
it’s wierd all the years i spent preaching i never really considered what it must have felt like to have two people at your door trying to convince you that your religion of birth was a lie.

It was rough for me. So much anger to start off with, followed by the realization that I was actually going to die one day. It was horrible, but many years later and being able to taste freedom for such a long time I've come to terms with much of it. I think it's something we will all carry with us for the rest of our lives, but in time you think about it less and less and move on with the good things you can make for yourself in the here and now.

WT Study October 2018....spinning ''layoffs'' into ''reassigning'' ex-Bethelites ''to the field''
by RULES & REGULATIONS inwt study october 2018. maintain inner peace despite changing circumstances.
lloyd and alexandra learn that they have been reassigned to the field, they at first felt sad.
after all, they had been serving at bethel for over 25 years.

25 years ago after I did 2 months temporary work there I submitted my application to bethel. It got rejected and 5 years later I learned TTATT. So grateful I never ended up there. I might have never broken away, and would be totally screwed rather than having my freedom and a well paying job.

Do elders still ask inactive members to write a letter to disassociating yourself from the Congregation?
by RULES & REGULATIONS indo today's elders ever meet with inactive members and pressure them to write a letter disassociating themselves from the congregation stating that, ''you no longer wish to a jehovah witness"?.
i was baptized at the young age of 16. after turning 18, i stopped attending meetings, field service, and all jehovah's witness activities.
i wanted to be with my high school friends, go to rock concerts, have a girlfriend, and live like a normal teen.

Well you all can argue all you want, I didn't attend meetings for a year and the elders showed up one day and asked me to DA myself because they found out I was gay. Never been in a relationship, but they were forceing that decision on me. I said no and they DF'd me instead. That's the homophobia a JW in Midwest America lives with.

JWs at the Movies
by Wake Me Up Before You Jo-Ho inso i was watching some of the dramas screened at the be courageous convention, and one caught my eye.. it's the scene where a group of jw teens are watching something deemed as "sinful" at the movie theaters.
there were only sound effects, so i decided to fill in the blanks.. https://vimeo.com/275184883.
bottom line: machine guns = bad.

I've totally noticed this. I think a lot of them have been brainwashed to think social media is evil and are just too scared/guilty to go on. Also as a JW you could only have other JW's as friends on social media or there would be major gossip and probably a visit to the back room of the KH with an elder for some counseling. Plus so many JW's lead a "double life" that they could never truly be free on social media without consequences. No party pictures or talking about that fantastic R rated movie you just saw. I would think social media for a JW would be far to risky and/or boring.

I've been through these tunnels many times back in the 90's. Here is a link to a news article about the filling in of the tunnels:
