I sat in on this meeting yesterday for about 90 minutes and walked out of the hall bored out of my mind. I needed fresh air to wake up. lol. It's the same old news and not a special meeting. No GB member gave a talk or made a comment. I see it this way, just another pep talk.

I told my field circus elder that I had health problems and will not preach and he the other elders backed off. I am into a long term successful fade and no more calls from the elders. My wife is a born in jw and still thinks the WT$ is God's organization. I hope she wakes up soon that this religion is a cult. -

First thoughts on "new" meeting...
by konceptual99 inhad a quick look at the workbook and flicked through the sample meeting video.. the increased use of video shows the trend for more centralised dissemination of "best practice" .
sure there isn't really a "school" any more and the format is a bit different but i think those that called it as the same old crap just in new package got it pretty much right.

Sat through it and found the meeting boring. The book of Matthew was pointed out many times for reasons. I did get the feeling the WT$ is pushing again for more preaching activity.

New convention theme
by StarTrekAngel injust wanted to post here real quick, as many have joked about it.
we had an announcement in our cong last week about the upcoming one day assembly.
the title of the assembly is "imitate jehovah".

Imitating a Hebrew desert god does not appeal to me. I recall this year's regional convention was all about Jesus. The Watchtower Society continues to confuse their members. I think I will skip the one day cult assembly. -

Demoted from elder to MS, anybody ever heard of this?
by Naoscillator inso a friend in a nearby hall told me their co came through, and in a hellish week of long meetings and inquisition overhauled the boe.
only one remains as elder, three were re-appointed as ms, and one, the cobe was deleted entirely.. two new elders were brought in as new secretary and cobe / watchtower conductor, respectively, and introduced to the congregation from the platform on sunday immediately following his second talk.
he reminded everybody of the authority he has and then named the new appointees.

Our RC was this last week end and our baptism figures were 9 out of an attendance of 4500+. Eight of these were young adults or teens. It seems like the growth rate is dropping. This RC was in Saskatchewan , Canada. -

RC musings - my impressions
by Doubting Bro inso i went to the rc this past weekend and have a few observations:.
1 - use of videos - most parts had some sort of video prop.
they ranged from awkward (an example was on friday where they showed scenes of nature without a real purpose other than god made this) to very well done.

Our RC starts this Friday on July 10 in Saskatchewan. Being a fader the fingers will be pointing at me and others. I noticed last year's RC was a lot thinner with regard to attendance and this RC could be more so. It seems that all WTS conventions continue to bring up the topics like guilt and fear and doing more giving more. -

Looking Back In Retrospect To 1975...
by titch ingreetings, folks: so, it's been 40 years since 1975. and, if you were actively involved with the witnesses back then, the mindset of many was, that by early autumn of 1975, it would mark the anniversary of 6000 years of human existence.
and, the hope was then, that it would mark the start of the 1000-year of christ, from the heavenly realm.
but, looking back now, 40 years ago, in june of 1975, only 3 more months remained until early autumn.

My wife says to me that the WTS never wrote that 1975 was definite about the big 'A'. Well the publications and talks say different since the summer of 1966 starting with assemblies at that time. I remember waiting through September and October 1975 and thinking what happened to the Great Tribulation and now no big 'A'. I knew then we had been duped. It was the World Wide Web and this site that really woke me up back in early 2010.
