The WT$ is a joke and a fraud. It seems the Watchtower Society has nothing good to say about most subjects but applies fear, obligation and gilt on the rank and file members.

Were you aware of the shunning policy when becoming a JW
by UnshackleTheChains infor those who became jws, were you fully aware of the societys cruel shunning policy whilst studying?
i absolutely had no idea such a policy existed until years later.
it really only hit home when reading the horrendous stories on the internet around 2002. .

I had five jw's study with me back during 1968-1969 on short term studies. This was the exciting time period for the 1975 fiasco. Well not one of those five jw's mentioned anything about marking, shunning or disfellowshipping policies.
I worked with a young man who was df'd by an elder who worked for the same employer and was shunned. This happened during the early 1970's. This shunning policy started up big time around 1980 and is on the increase.
If I knew back during the 1960's what I know now, I would not have had anything do with baptism.

What came to mind was the horse and buggy days of the past and cutting vegetation by hand.

My Take on the Convention
by xjwsrock in4300 in attendance - 17 baptized.
odd mix of congregations assigned, i'm sure to throw off any scent of a decline.. no distinction made whatsoever between loyalty to jehovah god and loyalty to the watchtower bible and tract society.
the convention is riddled with parts whipping up your love for the creator and jesus, with a quick reminder that the wbts are their gatekeepers.. parallels are implied constantly between israel and jehovah's witnesses.

Convention Weirdness
by BlackWolf inwell i just got back from 3 days in hell, and geez was this convention strange or what?

Wife and I attended the Saskatoon convention July 1-3. Its all gloom and doom talk. When the basement confinement video started, I said to my wife bunker videos which made her think about it. It seems the WT$ is focussing on human emotions with the loyalty (obey) card being played. On the way home my wife mentions that no announcement was made about next years convention. I thought that was odd that no comment was made. Maybe the big A coming.

I hate this cult too. This has to be my last assembly if I can make it through the three days. Our RC is the last week of June.

I misunderstood your OP. Every time I visit Calgary I put up with high speed drivers that drive close to my rear bumper at 12 km over the speed limit and I am forced to speed up. Now if a police officer has a radar gun pointed at me I get a ticket for speeding and the driver behind me gets away with speeding. I want to drive the speed limit but I have to go with the flow. This gets on my nerves. I am from a small city and I find that the big city life is fast paced. I have not been ticketed yet but if I lived in a very large city I can see it being a problem. -

I was told by a family member that In Calgary, Alberta that the police are handing out traffic tickets for even minor charges like a burned out tail light and speeding on any road. Is this due to the drop in oil price or something else?
