@ Landy - I think sometimes it's better to keep quiet instead of looking stupid. Sorry, it's too late for you buddy.
No it doesn't.
35-year-old female in california here.
never a jw, but have had bible studies and attended several meetings and even a convention once.
i've always been agnostic with leanings toward the belief in some deity or other, although the more i learned from the jw's, the more i've learned to doubt, not just their teachings, but the fundamental teachings of all religions.

i just joined this sight today.
i'm hoping to find people here with similar experiences or have experience with similar situations or just any advise or feedback.. first.
my quick life story.. i was born into jw.
Welcome!
I'm very happy that you realize what a load of crap the WT really is. Just as friendly warning, if you haven't noticed it by now, the majority of members on this forum no longer believe in the Christian God of the Bible. I feel that a friendly warning is important because many exiting members may seek Biblical spiritual advice on this forum only to be rudely awakened to being surrounded by atheists and agnostics.
Look forward to reading your posts!
let me ask you only one question.
first i need to clarify a few things.
in the new world translation, john 1:1 reads: “in [the] beginning the word was, and the word was with god, and the word was a god.” then in isaiah 9:6 (nwt) we read: “for there has been a child born to us, there has been a son given to us; and the princely rule will come to be upon his shoulder.
Thanks for the info Doug.
I'll definitely look into it further.
i am new to this site and wanted to say hi.
my wife and i are recently disassociated.
.
Welcome!
While I'm happy for you and your wife, I must warn you that the majority of members on this forum no longer believe in the Christian God. I feel that a friendly warning is important because many exiting members may seek Biblical spiritual advice on this forum only to be rudely awakened to being surrounded by atheists and agnostics.
Either way, I welcome you!

@ Nevuela - Welcome!
The Watchtower and Illuminati connection is very plausible being that at one point they did include a picture of the Illuminati symbol in one of their books. I believe it may have been the Live Forever book. You can see the screenshot I've attached.
You may also want to check out Fritz Springmeier on Google and how he connects the Watchtower with the Illuminati. Charles Taze Russell was an admitted Freemason and his tombstone to this day has Illuminati symbols on it.

Crabby is right on point in his argument. It's the same when Jehovah claims to give his glory to no one else yet Jesus is glorified. Moreover, Thomas worshiped Jesus at his feet bowing down to him and exclaiming my Lord! and my God!. This could not be being that Jesus rebuked Satan to only worship God. Huh?
If one takes a closer look at the scriptures one can readily decipher that although the word Trinity is not mentioned it is a reality in the mind of Paul and other prophets as they authored the gospels and letters. Paul actually described the Trinity mystery in 1 Timothy 3:16. Paul knew it would be hard for others to grasp this reality which is why he called it a mystery.
over the years here on this site i have found over half of the folks can hold their own with any minister.. why when we leave the borg we become proficient on any subject on the bible.. why did we go down that road?
my intention was to get close to jehovah (searching the bible), but i. guess i found lucifer.
i'am ask all the time, how did you go from a true believer to calling the bible a book.
Having been a keen JW student for a few decades I knew all the teachings. When I realized the GB was full of crap, I started out reading the Bible independently and just let it interpret itself. Once I did that, the majority of their teachings started to come apart at the seams and then huge rips started to happen.
It is no wonder they are working on a Bible commentary starting with the book of Matthew. They don't want anyone doing any independent interpretation. So since brothers are starting to read the Bible by itself without magazines they will now introduce this commentary. Nice cult.
just a little something my "anointed" roommate posted on facebook a few months ago, along with replies from her fellow jws.
it was chilling to read, so i took a screenshot and saved it for future reference.
please feel free to share your own stories of blind obedience within the org.
Having to read the screenshot and subsequent replies to it just ruined my entire Sunday. But it is greatly appreciated in all sincerity. Appreciated in the sense that it's a good reminder to remain vigilant and awake and keep fighting the good fight against this monster of a cult.
Okay, now I'm going to go throw up.
gen.1:26 "and god went on to say "let us make man in our image according to our likeness.....etc,etc,.. the key words here are "us" and " our" ,he is including other life forms just like him in using plurals.. he did not say " i" will make man in "my" image ,using the singular vernacular.
the same is also noted in gen 3:22 "and jehovah god went on to say " here the man has become like one of " us".
again he is using the plural and not the singlar language clearly showing their were other life forms on an equal footing to him.. also satan via the serpent also knew the difference between good and bad before he tempted eve , showing he was on a par with jehovah god in knowing that fact along with the other gods in heaven.. another scripture that comes to mind is 1 cor.8:5 "........just as their are many gods and many lords,,,".

hi guys.
conscienceguy started a topic regarding what to say to the elders about the name jehovah being in the new testament.
i wrote him a private message with my comments on the matter.
If Jesus is part of Jehovah's being/existence/entity then many of the scriptures that have Jesus identifying himself as God make sense. Including when Jesus is about to be arrested and he identifies himself as "I AM" and everyone falls to the ground. Also, when he says he made God's name known which he was given.
This is one of the reasons Paul identified Jesus and God being a mystery. Paul could barely grasp that Jesus came from Jehovah literally. He is part of Jehovah such as his "right arm" like the scriptures identify him. This is the reason why so many scriptures interchangeably use God and Jesus both acting in the same capacity with the same authority. This is something that I could never reconcile while I was a JW. How the scriptures both spoke of Jesus and God acting in unison.
