When asked, I would have become dead serious, looked them both dead in the eyes and said:
That's insulting! I never said that!
My exact words were "they're a very, very shitty ass cult!"
Now get out of my home! I can't stand liars!
Buhahahaha
so, not long ago i've told you guys how one of my only two jw friends saw my comment against the borg and called me about it.
well, the little fraker also called the elders to tell on me.
i know i've been a huge idiot for posting a comment about jw's on facebook, but nonetheless i did it and what's happened, happened.. two idiot elders came all the way from the nearest congo, 30 miles away to talk to me about it.

i do believe it is written somewhere in jw literature .
Thank you much fastJehu.
That's a great quote!
thank you, jw.net and cofty, for redirecting me to the right organization!.
when i posted why did god permit scriptures to be corrupted?
then i thought, if there is an organization that believes all scriptures are corrupted (which obviously makes it enemy of all religions), that organization is not ordinary, but gutsy, lionhearted, and worthy of close examination!
we are all aware here that the wt/jw org is trying its hardest to wriggle out of paying rightful compensation in the form of damages to victims of abuse who bring a claim.. they must be worried about future claims too, not just from decades ago, but from the present, as they have not made any effort as yet to truly protect the vulnerable.. here is my question :.
as they now direct the congregations through the organization known as "the christian congregation of jehovah's witnesses" and as in each country this organization is headed and run by a few mendicants with no assets, do you think in future the big jw/wt corporations will deny all responsibility for abuse, by saying the very poor "christian congregation of jehovah's witnesses", which owns no property/real estate and has no cash or other assets, is alone responsible ????
hence no pay out ?.
It's all very plausible but a good attorney can always track the money trail and see if they are trying to evade responsibility although holding on to some form of control even if indirectly.
What I have noticed is that the WT has now made the CO's responsible for naming servants. I wonder if they make the CO's sign off on some sort of legal responsibility for their appointments.
Does anyone know this?
sorry for the long post but i need help.
ive been a jw for 20 years - still active and attending meetings, baptised at 18, i have recently become very dissillusioned.
a few reasons: ill treatment of my kids by a prominent 'assembly speaker' elder, then my son left the truth at 15 (not baptised) and was 'dropped' instantly, despite this community having been his whole life for 15 years.
I'm so sorry to hear about your troubles. Many of us on this forum have experienced very similar if not almost identical situations.
What has sustained me through many dark nights is Bible reading but specifically the Apostle Paul's letters to the different congregations. The peace of mind comes from his words contrasting sharply with Watchtower teachings. These readings have brought inner peace to me in that I know I have Jehovah's approval without having to abide by the WT rules, regulations, policies, teachings, and flat out distortions, misinterpretations, out of context citations, and deceitful words.
It's not all the same for everyone but please stay strong mentally by allowing yourself some breathing room to take it all in. Cognitive dissonance can be very painful and distressing the first few times you experience it but never lose hope that Jehovah God through Jesus' sacrifice approve of you and your sincere doubts. The WT cares about how many hours you put in service, how many meetings you miss, and how many comments you make. That's all hogwash you don't need to excel in these to have divine approval. This is what the WT uses to keep people spinning their wheels. They could never say "you guys have God's approval" otherwise the ruse would be up. They need to continue to push people to do as much as they can in order to need more and more from the WT. Witnesses push themselves and their families in order to get that nod from the WT as being worthy of life. That is so wrong yet YOU are one of the few that actually realize it. That means you are a smart, intuitive person who actually recognizes the WT for what it is. Remain strong for your family. If I may recommend a good reading to you. In Search of Christian Freedom by Ray Franz. Also, I would urgently encourage you to research "physiological conditioning" and you'll be surprised how the WT uses this very subtle method to keep the flock in line.
You have much support from people on these boards. Always remember that the "Truth" the real "Truth" can stand up to any scrutiny that comes its way. And in the end, it will remain the "Truth."

murdered singer, selena, was raised a jw?.
did you know that selena quintanilla was raised in a devout jehovahs witness family?
Yeah, I remember comments in the hall about her being a JW or her family being 'in'.
What immediately came to my mind was 'how in the heck can they even consider themselves or even be mentioned in the same breath as being witnesses with the incredibly rigid rules.'
this topic is what what it says on the tin.
do jws suffer/are suffering, from stockholm syndrome?.
getting abused (mentally) and then seem to form a relationship with the captives (wtbts).. there is also a condition called oslo syndrome, but haven't read up much about it.. personally, i think i might be suffering from the former.. would love to get a few opinions.....
This also crossed my mind when I was speaking to my spouse.
I think in a way they do sympathize with their mind captors. As they have essentially given up their rationalizing to them and whatever they say is without fault.
Interesting topic. Thanks for starting it CoH.

And then John said "Beloved ones, do not believe every inspired statement, but test the inspired statements to see whether they originate with God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world."
~ 1 John 4:1
And then Luke said “…explaining and proving by references that it was necessary for the Christ to suffer and to rise from the dead, saying: “This is the Christ, this Jesus whom I am proclaiming to you.”
~ Acts 17:3
wife and i have not reported a single hour of fs in 3-4 months.
while my wife is mostly doing for me (positive thing), i know she would have rather done it.
elder asked me to turn in my fs report this past week and then he added... "we need to talk".
Elder: "We need to talk."
StarTrekAngel: "I know! I know! Man what a game!! I really thought Wisconsin had it in the bag! What a game!!

dismantling the watchtower .
five jehovah witnesses deported from bali for conducting door-to-door religious ministry .
@ Watchtower-Free - this is something the WTS will never post on their 'newsroom' link.
I've always wondered why faithful witnesses who were killed doing WTS work were never mentioned on their site or in their magazines. When they were mentioned in magazines they would downplay the deaths as something that Jehovah willed which always made me sick. The WTS always try to play both sides of the argument.
