  New Watchtower-- the End is coming in our lifetime again now??

  they just posted the simplified august study watchtower on jw.org.. paragraph 11 of the "expectation!

  " article says this:.

  "so even if we feel that we have been waiting a long time, this does not mean that the end is far away or that it is not coming in our lifetime.".

  Self-preservation.

  The WTS has been using the "death at Armageddon" card since its inception.

  Think about it. What's more important to a human being than preserving their own life?

  Sprinkle some biblical truths on top of that and you have blind acceptance to do with the person as you wish.

  Not too long ago I overheard an elder tell a teen in our hall that he wouldn't see high school. The teen made the mistake of telling the elder he wanted to be an engineer. The first chance I got I pulled that kid aside and told him that no one knows when the end will come and that choosing to attend a university is his and his decision alone. The kid agreed and later on I heard his parents did too.

  Why did the org "forgive" KH mortgages?

  i know this has been discussed, but i think it's good that topics like this get brought back up from time to time for the sake of newbies and lurkers, plus, i have a question (related at end of post).. the org brags about "forgiving" kh mortgages as if it's so loving and giving.

  i put the word in quotation marks because most of us realize it wasn't forgiving anything.

  the new arrangement should actually bring it far more money.. for example, suppose there are twenty congregations total.

  When I first heard it I personally thought it to be a blessing for those with outstanding mortgages. Then when I heard the last part of implementing an open ended mortgage payment I thought twice and didn't agree with it.

  After giving it some serious thought, I figured out it was a calculated well thought out move by the org knowing they would come into some serious dough. They knew how many outstanding mortgages there was and probably how much money congregations had in their savings. In the end, they knew approximately how much they would gain, especially with the open-ended note.

  They, as in the GB, are stupid men who wouldn't know business even if a stock option certificate was shoved up their ass, instead they rely on shrewd business consultants to steer the org's finances in the best way possible.

  i don't believe for a second that the wts can be god's chosen organization, if he does have an earthly one, especially one with such a hypocritical past.

  but the question begs; why are there people professing having the heavenly calling usually found in the wts?.

  does anyone know or have heard of other denominations having the genuine heavenly calling?.

  I have heard that the heavenly calling is an "intense and overwhelming feeling of wanting to be with God and not on earth".

  the governing body of the watchtower is not as immune as they might think..

  anything can happen at any time to any organization no matter how big, how powerful, how religious or how long they been involved in wrongdoing.. .

  fifa, the powerful and polarizing governing body for soccer, came under prosecutorial assault from two fronts wednesday.

  i was discussing this topic with two friends of mine, ex jws, a few nights ago.

  i think it would be boring after a while.

  you can't smoke, have to drink with moderation (difficult in europe with all the wines).

  With all due respect I think your view is being bias with the current world situation.

  While I don't know what its like to be perfect, we did get a glimpse when Jesus roamed the earth.

  The Universe itself would in fact take millions if not billions of years to travel and visit throughout.

  There are so many things on earth that we would have time to do to research and enjoy.

  Think about the power it takes to create the Universe. Wouldn't God the creator know how to please his creation and keep them in expectation for an eternity?

  Of course, IMHO.

  How Some Climb Up So Quickly?!!

  our current co has not been in the org all that long, less than 10 years, and already quite a respected overseer.

  i know of a few married couples in the spanish congs that are doing everything right, you know, with the theocratic schooling, the pioneering, etc., and... nothing!.

  how do some seem to reach certain posts so damn quick, while others cannot make it?!

  To answer your question, it's not about how much you do but who you know and your abilities.

  If you can motivate, kiss enough ass, and have "connections" or "know someone or knows someone who does" then you are a shoe-in.

  The WT could care less about seniority or how zealous you are. It's a numbers game and if you can help the bottom line then you qualify.

  Sad but true. I know of some brothers who have been spinning their wheels for years trying to be the most spiritual person in the org. yet they remain like that for years. What a joke.

  i see an attitude among some people here which is not very helpful.

  i can understand it, but still, it's not constructive or helpful.. if you condemn the society for not changing, but then you also condemn them when they do change in a positive way, what incentive or motive does that provide for the people at the society to ever want to change for the better?.

  also, what does that attitude look like to current witnesses who are having doubts?.

  And when they recently have admitted to errors and say they've been wrong in big ways in the past, some accuse them of having some secret conspiracy theory motive behind it.

  And when have they ever offered a sincere apology for having been wrong? When? I'd like to know.
