Where did Jehovah go ?
by Deleteandrestart infor the many years i was mentally " in " the congregation, i equated the organisation as interchangeable with the persona of jehovah, in effect whatever the organisation said or thought, that was what jehovah thought and that was what jehovah said.... it was that simple.
so when i found out the ttatt and the cynical moves of the organisation over the years, including 1975 , the donation arrangements, the united nations, etc i was devastated and thought " where's jehovah in all of this?".
the god who i'd poured my heart out to on many occasions and who i thought was silently listening and hearing my pleas ..... was not there , .

Reminder about how posting limits work
by Simon inbecause some people still seem to struggle with the concept.. posting limits suck for normal posters and in an ideal world we could do without them but they do serve some useful purpose:.
they limit the impact of any spammers inundating the site.. the prevent people with too much time and no self-filter from completely taking over and / or trying to use the forum as a live-chat system.. they are a useful throttle for anyone behaving badly (i.e.
where an outright banning would be inappropriate).. normal posting limits are very rigid in that when you hit them, the post that you possibly spent a long time working on is gone (unless you saved it first).

Thanks for the info.
I've never experienced it so I'd like to know what are the established limits. 50 a day? 100? What are they? Thanks.

Why is Mother's Day wrong?
by stuckinarut2 inso why is celebrating mother's day wrong according to witnesses?.
is it not an opportunity to show respect to the giver of life (mother) and therefore god, the originator of families?.
does it not give an opportunity for members of the family to give a hard working mother a day off?

My spouse was saying how stupid it was that people are made to celebrate mother's day and that there shouldn't just be one special day for showing love yada yada yada. So I stopped her and said, "isn't it better than nothing?"
That quickly put a stop to her JW tirade at least momentarily and seconds later she just scoffed and said the same thing.
Sometimes common sense is no match for the deep JW indoctrination.

"well beyond the intent of the scriptures" 7:44
by biblexaminer inif you have the jw app running on your tablet, watch the latest (may) governing broadcast and hear tony the jackass, and when you get to 7 minutes and 44 seconds ...hit the pause button.. read the words at the bottom of the screen as per the jw app close captioning.. "well beyond the intent of the scriptures" .
he is describing the governing body past, like the ghost of christmas past.
yes, the governing body past were a bunch of freaking yahoo's violating 1 cor.

They're still assh**es.
They're just assh**es who've now admitted to "sometimes" having gone beyond what was written.
I still smell bulls**t though.

What would happen if...
by StarTrekAngel inin an effort to excuse yourself from elder persecution, you present an argument.
whether at a jc or just in an average elder shepherding call.
most people who have confronted a jc, have tried to explain to the elders about what they know of the org but the incriminating questions always come up.. when confronted with the question, do you still believe the gb is the f&ds?

If given no choice but to defend my position, I would open up on them full throttle. Of course I would be prepared, but I would lay out my case point by point in a systematic manner and ask that if they disagree with what I've presented they need to disprove it. Either way I would not give them the satisfaction to talk down to me but rather to speak up on clear irrefutable facts. That's how I would go out. Guns blazing, period. -

“Even if this wasn’t the Truth, I need the structure.”
by Londo111 ini remember many years back a fellow ministerial servant saying this to me.
he felt that even if jehovah’s witnesses were not the only true religion, the regimented routine of meetings and field service and the strict rules and enforcement provided a beneficial structure for his life.
at the time i thought if this wasn’t “the truth”, i’d have no need for all that “structure”.

A. He lacks the will to do the right thing needs prodding
B. He needs someone to be poking him making sure he does right
C. He lacks balls to live life by God's standards independent of anyone
I'm leaning towards C.

I wouldn't piss on him even if he was on fire. Instead I'd roast some marshmallows while humming the nutcracker. -
