TJ,
Thanks. My view seems to agree with you. You can correct me if you'll disagree with me.
My view is that salvation is through grace because JesusChrist did all the works for us by sacrificing for us. That is the gift that is given to us for salvation. If we willfully sinned, we did not accept that gift. I do think our works will be to choose to accept or reject that gift.

BTW,
UnclePenn1 and Escargot, thanks for your postings.
However, Escargot, can you specifically describe what types of works are needed for salvation?

If by salvation by works means having to go door-to-door proselytizing as well as following rigid rules such as the ones imposed by the WBTS, then all of us will be doomed because it is difficult trying accomplish all of these rules. Admit it, as hard as you work trying to accomplish these rules, it will never be enough either to the society or to you. Therefore, creating that guilt trip. I don't know about you fellows, but having that guilt trip is certainly not a good feeling to live with. If living with a guilt trip is part of salvation, then that is one thing I sure don't want.

I will show you the questions that I asked him and the response that he gave me:
My Question: He said that salvation comes from both grace and works. I asked him if salvation comes from works then Why did God send JesusChrist to die for our sins? Also, I added that if salvation comes from works, then JesusChrist died in vain?
His response:
Yes, God did send Jesus to die for our sins, and I certainly hope it wasn't in vain! Acts 24:15 actually speaks of a resurrection for the righteous and the unrighteous. Those that are righteous are resurrected to life, the unrighteous to judgment. In other words, God gives us all a chance.
Hebrews 10:26 says, "For if we practice sin willfully after having received the accurate knowledge of the truth, there is no longer any sacrifice for sins left."
In other words, if we know the truth, and keep sinning on purpose, then Jesus sacrifice won't help us.
Jesus' sacrifice covers a multitude of sins, but it's on us to try our hardest not to.
Jesus' sacrifice certainly isn't in vain, because it gives EVERYONE a chance.
What do you all think about his statement?
I will post my next question(s)to him and his responses if you all like. Otherwise, you can tell me Not to post anything.

the latest study article encourages witnesses to display goodness in their everyday lives.
(january 15, 2002).
nothing wrong with that, you may think, but what motive is being fostered in the article?.
I wonder if they are doing "good deeds" because they have to or because they want to.
If they are doing it just so they can preach to others to gain converts or proselytizing, then that is just messed up. That's the same as "The End justifies the Means".

I just like to continue our friendship. Since she is a JW, I am aware of the consequences of getting involved romantically as Farkel pointed out. I just hope she doesn't think that because I am "worldly" that means that I am evil(from their mindset). Otherwise, if we befriended, I hope what she is doing is "Hypocrisy" as I read on many posts that JWs should not or must not associate with "worldly" people.

Hello, everybody! I am a newbie here. I am not a JW, never was and I don't think I will ever be. My last statement is due to the fact that I did read a lot of posts from this forum and about the JWs in other sites. Although I am not either JW or ex-JW, I hope I can post questions or participate in the forum.
Reading the experiences from a lot of you, it really touched my heart on how much suffering a lot of you have gone through. Therefore, I will give my experience:
It deals with friendships that I forged with some of them throughout the year. Especially, I met a girl. She was very nice and very personable. I didn't find out that she was a witness when I ask her if she celebrates the 4th of July, she said that she doesn't because she is a JW. At the time, I didn't know anything about them and I ask why? all she could answer me was: "well, from the scriptures, it makes sense why not celebrating it." So, I just left it at that. It's true that we always had friendly chats and enjoy each other's company. Well, to get to the point which are my questions:
When she is acting so nice and personable with everyone, is she just acting?
Is her being nice just a "facade"?
Is her being nice and friendly just a way to try to convert people?
I'd like to know because I do love my friends and I certainly don't want fakes. Since she's a JW, I don't know what her true intentions are.
Hopefully, I get responses from you guys.
If you want a more detailed story, you can email me.
Thanks.
