Given that the power (and danger) of this 'religion' is it's pervasiveness isn't it possible that if he starts going even infrequently that he will get hooked into it again? His parents will be pushing for him to be reinstated and to be truthful I don't really know what he has to do to make that happen - is infrequent attendance enough to be reinstated or does he have to do tues/sun every week for a year or more?

Just after I had my daughter I had really bad PN depression and was acting really wierd. I took a huge OD and on the afternoon I came out of hospital she took him on one side and said that he didn't have to put up with this and that he should show me the door, our little girl was 6 weeks old.Since then I have had depression on and off but quite badly at times and act out every time. At these times he goes home and his parents tell him every time to leave me. The latest episode was two weeks ago when she rang me and told me I was disgusting. I don't think this pressure from the whole JW thing has been helping but hopefully its behind us now, I'm just scared that it's going to kick off again.
I can function and manage on a day to day basis but at bad times have very little tolerance for stress of any kind. My husband understands this, the old bag really doesn't. The bit I find really hard to swallow is that they claim to have the moral high ground and yet basically abuse someone who is clearly ILL. Its just a cheap shot that really hurts me......
well i have been feeling a bit like crap lately.
work has been very stressful and my attempts to make new friends outside of the jw's have been mostly futile.
the people i work with are immature and are more interested in the latest office gossip and whose doing what than anything else.

So sorry for you, I have never met people who claim christianity as their personal territory and yet behave so absolutely appallingly.
The people you miss aren't real, they couldn't possibly treat another human being that way if they were. Maybe they will become real if they ever get their heads out of the sand but until they do they are more like 'Stepford' beings. Your situation sounds hard but the only thing I can guarantee is that this time next year everything will be different, don't go back, fight through it - daylight is just around the corner, hang in there.

Thanks for everybody's help, it is really good to explain it to people who understand. My friends (all non JW) don't get it as it all sounds completely alien to them.
I see that forcing him not to go is not going to work and until now have been supporting him going (against my better judgement) to help him have a relationship with the old bag. He is DF as he left his first wife (JW) for me. Therefore he can't have any relationship with them till he is reinstated, he can't be reinstated unless he goes to meetings. He didn't go at all for two years and has recently started again, I went for a few weeks but gave up as none of it made any sense to me. Deep down I know he does actually believe all of it but loves me more. On that basis I thought it only fair to try and help him go back, I didn't feel too insecure about it all but now, seeing how that old trout behaves I know that the religion will end up destroying us and she will tear us apart with a smile on her face.
This coming sunday is the first time he won't have been with them to the KH, can anyone hazard a guess about how his repeated non appearance will be handled? Do you think it will be followed up? Do you think they will just let it go? (Not just his parents the Elders of his cong. too)???

Fortunately he hasn't bought it long term and we usually resolve our problems. She then starts buddying up to me and trying to pretend that she likes me.
Its so bloody hypocritical and basically unchristian, I don't get how these people seem able to preach about how wonderful they are and yet do the complete opposite. I have completely had enough of both of his parents and can see absolutely no future in our relationship. I know it's evil but I am going to do EVERYTHING in my power to prevent my husband attending those meetings, I was only going along with it so he could have a relationship with his M & D but have finally had enough. As far as I can see it's a lose/lose situation even if he goes his relationship with them will improve at the expense of my marriage and they will still dislike me. If he doesn't go our marriage will be okay and they will still dislike me - what choice do I have?
Can anyone comment on my situation? Does my take on it seem unreasonable? If so I would welcome some advice.

I have read the Family Happiness book, well parts of it. I found it insulting to say the least - I did actually go along to a few meetings. The Watchtower Study reminded me of an 'English As A Second Language' course. It was pathetic. A girl came round to give me a bible study and in the end she gave up and didn't come back - I am clearly too difficult. What do you think the odds are of me being declared an apostate????
a friend of mine is getting a divorce because her husband is questioning the wts...he's sick of the cover-ups...in light of a new elder abuse case here.
she says she can't lie with someone who is going to talk against the wts..so i asked her how she could get a divorce for those reasons.
evidentally, the co came to talk to her and because she can't get govt.
What IS the difference between touching and caressing that breast and why is it an issue????

This has really scared me, my husban WAS a witness b4 we met, then got disfellowshipped because of me and now wants to go back to it so he can see his parents. He assures me that it won't change my life at all and we can still have xmas, birthdays etc.....
My personal feeling on the doctrines and beliefs are that the whole thing is beyond crap, I was raised an RC and whilst I do not practice I have an enquiring mind and do unfortunately have a rather large mouth.
Is my marriage as good as over??? I have told him that I won't stop him going but don't want ANYTHING to do with it, not even talk about it as I regard it as rather brainless. What do you think, please help.......?????
