The FDS have brought tremendous pain to thousands of people, and if anything have helped drive mankind away from God rather than giving people genuine hope.

Did you ever believe that NDE's were DEMONIC?
by DebraDoll inafter re-reading my original post, i realize my true intent and its meaning was clouded by my harsh approach.
my deepest apologies to all!
i would like to try again to reach out to any of you who may have been profoundly moved by such an experience.

A couple months ago, I would have either thought that NDE's were demonic, or that the people having them were just imagining it. I think on a certain level though, I was frightened, I always felt that way whenever I read anything on spirituality that didnt jive with the WTS's narrow-minded theology. It wasn't that I was afraid of demons, I actually would have loved to meet a demon, even if it brutalized me, just to personally experience that there's something beyond the physical. No, I was frightened that my beliefs might just be wrong! I became worried as well whenever a friend of mine told me about his experiences with OBE's.
Now though, I can't get enough when it comes to reading about this sort of thing.

The Dark Tower
by Enishi inhas anyone else read this series?
it's by stephen king, and according to him the center peice of just about everything he's ever written.
concepts from dozens of his books come into play, and the story is superb.

I think that the third book was the best thus far, although I have yet to finish the fifth one.
What I'm wondering, is if Stephen King is going to bring in the supernatural villain IT (pennywise). There was a reference in Dreamcatcher that Pennywise might not be dead.

Meditation for health and spiritual development
by logansrun inhow many here meditate?
what is your program of meditation like?
with a group or by yourself?

Two techniques I use that work well are to not only clear your mind, but become intensely conscious of your present surroundings, and of yourself. For instance, try focusing awareness throughout your whole body, don't visualise anything, just feel. When working, or even just relaxing, try to focus more concretely on what you're doing at the time. This can be done even when oh, say, you're waiting in line at the grocery store.
One extremely good book on meditation I've found is The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle. I was amazed when I first read it, I wondered for a moment if Tolle hadn't written the book specifically for JWs and exJWS. I kid you not, there's so much information in there that applies to us that it's not even funny!
For pure health, try researching books on chi kung or tai chi chuan. Although I've slacked off on it lately, I used to do regular chi kung and chakra work, and was much healthier then.

Circuit Assembly Report
by Hapgood incoming out of the lurking mode to give you all a report on the 2 day ca that i attended this past weekend.
i always enjoy other reports that have been posted so i thought i would share my observations.
i attend with my jw hubby to keep him company so he doesn't have to go alone, that's the only reason that i go.. i didn't take any notes, so i'm doing this by memory.

The only reason I like visiting an assembly any more is just for admiring the buiding itself and meeting people.
The building I go to is incredibly extravagent, I wonder just how the Society affords it...

Ya know, there's plenty of legends about the Buddha being omniscent as well. I highly doubt it, enlightened men may be incredibly wise, but they aren't omniscent. Knowing everything is impossible.

a movie for the JWs: Pokemon: Mewtwo Strikes Back
by Oxnard Hamster inyou're probably wondering: what in blazes does pokemon have to do with jws?
in pokemon: mewtwo strikes back, there is a great line that applies to a lot of people, especially jws.
here's a quick summary: mewtwo was created by scientists to become the most powerful pokemon ever.

I'm not particularily interested in pokemon, but I do like anime. Some of my favorite ficitonal sotires have been anime.
I've witnessed the dubs silly terror of pokemon as well. Back when the witnesses.net site was still up, there was a long thread where several dubs said they thought pikachu was demonic. I can even remember a post where someone named LilBarb (married to BigRay, who I believe has been mentioned on here several times), compared pokemon to the telletubbies, and said that some girl at work told her the telletubies were actually chanting african spells.

One aspect of this series I find particularily fascinating is how all these different worlds overlap.
