I think that deep down some of the GB know they are wrong, but are too frightened to admit it, and so push what they know to be true deep into their subconscious. The same was true of me for several years...

Do you think the governing body sincerely believe what they teach?
by AJN ini haven't had a chance to read crisis of conscience yet, it's a 2 month wait here unfortunately for delivery and i feel it will probably answer some of my questions regarding the gb but it occurs to me - i wonder if they *really* believe what they teach, if they *really* believe it's the truth or are they really manipulating money makers operating a dysfunctional mlm scheme that ruins people's lives.
or perhaps somewhere in the middle lol.. oh yeah, and if anyone knows how the 'new light' is supposedly delivered i'd love to hear about it.. what do you think?
if anyone has read coc and has any quotes that might be useful please post :)

Did you have a relationship with your friend Jehovah?
by Nosferatu ini remember watching that young people ask video "how can i make real friends".
they were saying that jehovah can be your best friend, and you have to view him as a real person.. even when i was a jw, i could never buy into this crap.
how can you develope a relationship if there's only communication one way?

Anthromorphic terms such as "friendship" and "communication" only breed nonsense when talking about a connection to realities that are beyond our comprehension.

Indians are the nicest people...
by DanTheMan ini recently was pulled from my regular job in customer service to help work on our company's "global transformation project" which involves getting all of our company's disparate software systems onto one system.. most of the programmers that i am working with now are from india.
i tell ya, they are the friendliest, most polite people i've ever come across, they are such a pleasure to work with.
i wonder if it's hinduism, or their culture, or maybe i'm just meeting the "cream" of a nation with something like a billion people, but i think the western world could learn a lot from these humble folks.

I always thought lesbians were the nicest people actually.
Most of the lesbians I've meet are very friendly, with one exception. I had a boss once who was a middle-aged lesbian, and she was a cranky old lady! A couple times she almost bit my head off over silly little control issues. I think she must have hated young people or something...

All of the Indian people I've meet have been very respetful, polite, and a delight to talk to.
And lets not forget Indian food! That stuff is incredible!

Do you believe in Soul Mates?
by Lost Diamond inhow many here believe that we all have a soulmate somewhere in this world that is especially for us, or do you believe that the person we happen to fall in love with becomes our soul mate?
-
Enishi
My intuition says yes. However, I think that we probably have more than just one soul mate, our others who could potentially become our lover. A Soul mate doesn't necessarily have to be a romantic partner either, I can also be a close friend or family member. In a way the entire human race is one big soul mate, as all souls are part of the same oversoul, in the same way that cells form the body. It is only the constant chattering our minds, and our identification with that chattering, which separates us from our soul mates.

Unusual Events at Assemblies
by Gretchen956 ini don't know why, but the posting about the apostates outside the tacoma dome made me think of an assembly i went to in portland oregon in the 70s.
(ok so i'm dating myself)... anyway right in the middle of a talk (i think it was the sunday main talk) we had a streaker run through.
i never laughed so hard in all my life!!!

He he, it's always funny when the animals get into the assembly isn't it? I feel sorry for the poor creatures, those horrible talks probably drive them crazy but unlike us, they don't have the mental fortitude necessary to endure them.
At one assembly I was at, someone down in the lower blenchers started screaming their head off. I looked down with my binoculars, and saw roughly six men carrying off an angry woman who was waving her arms about everwhere. Later on I heard that she was an apostate, and had went off on an angry tantrum.

The absolute stupidity of Christianity
by logansrun inso often people here confuse just what the real evil is.
we think it is the theology and practices of the watchtower.
neigh!

Christianity is not entirely invalid. Originally, Christianity contained much of the Greek and Pagan wisdom that it later stamped out. What happened was quite predictable. You see, like all things in human society, Christianity eventually degraded, in the same way that our bodies decay, and in the same way our earth will eventually decay. One could even say the same thing of Hinduism with its caste system. Just that, in this case, the religion Christianity degraded in the most collosal way imaginable. If it ever hopes to stay alive in the ever changing stream of evolution, it will have to change.

this website is having an impact
by dothemath inhello.........this is a first for me- i've been reading some of your messages for some time now, and i must say you guys study your watchtower far better than i ever did.
i'm still a part of the congregation (and an elder), but i have to say i agree with many of your criticisms of the organization.
we've become just like the pharisees that jesus condemned............at our last assembly, the do and co warned against apostate material over and over again..........so i certainly think you're having a tremendous impact on their actions.

Welcome! We're glad to have you here, the organization needs more people like you who are open-minded and willing to face the problems facing the witnesses.

Adam & Eve , just plain DUMB?
by coolshark inif they were perfect, why did they "eat" of the tree of good and bad and why not from the tree of life?
could it be that satan was jealous of eve when she was with adam?
i mean, before eve came onto the scene , surely satan spent some"quality" time with adam showing him the ropes, etc.

The fact Adam & Eve come off as total morons is because the original story was never meant to be taken literally, unlike now.
