Welcome.
"Dreadfully devious" sums it up nicely. The more I learn, the more appalled I am.

i am not a former jw, but my mother has been one for years and as you all know, that affected me as well.
i was raised catholic in a nice part of queens ny, and for the most part i never had a problem with my faith.
when i turned ten or so, my mother became entrenched in the jehova witnesses, and has not looked back since.

the first holiday of the season is coming up soon, and i was wondering why j.w.
's don't celebrate it.
it's not a bilbical event, as far as i know.
I asked the Jw I dated this because I didn't understand it either. He said it was an "American" holiday, and thus bad "by association." I don't see anything wrong with it, but they seem to see something wrong with anythhing that might be fun. Of course eating with my relatives has never been considered "fun"!

Things are really slow in Wisconsin, eh?

Dear Farkel,
You make my head hurt. All that serious thought! You do good research, man!
How about -"How did Walmart go from being a place where only goods made in America were sold-thus saving jobs for Americans-to being an outlet store for low quality third world goods?" There's a question that bears looking into. Except that there's one simple answer: GREED.
Walmart doesn't care about people- neither employees nor customers. It cars only for $$$$$

I'm sure Bob would appreciate your interest. As my friend Wes says, "There's an ass for every seat." If everyone liked the same things, how dull would that be? I am always looking at couples and wondering what made them get together. Especially the really odd ones!

Boy you have touched a nerve here! My mother, who is 77 years old, has worked for Walmart for 10 years. After 10 years she FINALLY got a raise to $7 an hour! My son got his first job at Wendy's STARTING at $7 an hour! Also they would schedule her to work from 7am-4pm! That's 9 hours! She's 77! They kept her just short of full time so that she could never get benefits. They make the cost of benefits so high that most who are on full time can't afford them anyway. A survey was done here in GA and it found that 25% of the children on the public assistance insurance are children of Walmart employees-a much greater percentage than any other employer. So Walmart doesn't pay for their insurance-the taxpayers do!
In my opinion Walmart is a morrally bankrupt corporation-building it's empire on the backs of the little guy. I refuse to shop there.
