I remember rendevouz being corrected to "the meeting for field service".
I also remember a long part about not calling the board where stuff was posted the "bulletin board", something to do with papal bull?

i had a conversation with a friend in the "know" today.
it brings ever clearer the dysfunction of jehovah's witnesses and how they treat child molesters.
in my local congregation the individual who admitted molesting children seems to be held in high esteem.
They shield each other at all costs whether child molester, womanizer, bigot, liar, slanderer, murderer, fill in the blank_________________
Anything to keep clean the name of Jehovah.

Canadian Parliament did a study on the practice and mention some successful cases of suing for aliention of affection.
i thought it might be a good idea to find out at what age or after how long we descided to leave the watchtower.. prehaps we my find a patern in it which we could use .. i think what we need to know are ,.
1.age you left the watchtower.
(or age you found out it was wrong).
1. Outting: 37 years old
2. Dunking: 16 years old
3. Rearing: Parents baptized when I was 5.
after all, i've read franz's books and have seen all too often the way jws' normal familial emotions are rendered dead, inactive when one of their family members leaves the religion either through being dfd or by daing.. back in october 2001 i sent two gifts to my uncle and aunt in detroit.
they stopped having contact with me except for a thank-you letter when i did a similar thing about one year previously.
i know that this recent gift was received as the on line ups tracking link showed the recipient's last name.

So sorry to hear of the loss.
I recently got on some family sites and found my uncle and a cousin. We have been writing since Christmas and exchanged cards. I apologized for being a judgemental JW. He said, "no hard feelings". My dad sends him anti holiday stuff every holiday so now I am supplying him with apostate info. from the other side.
Should make quite a war.
I am sorry things are different in your situation, maybe look for other family?
i saw a report on tv about the church of jesus chrisht of latter day saint and they have a lot in common with the jw.
they go from door to door and as the jw, they believe that they are here to save the world.
do you think that this church will become more popular while the watchtower is losing his popularity?
Insight from the land of Zion:
1. Locals refer to Mormon garments as "angel schaps".
2. Alot of growth comes from their baptism for the dead. Did you know most dead presidents, movie stars, etc. are now Mormon? Some of my deceased JW relatives have been baptized by my Mormon relatives.
3. Mormons brag about their health but will not confess that Utah has the highest teen pregnancy rate in the nation.
4. Mormon legislature has agressively enforced a 4 year statute of limitation on incest, child sexual abuse, etc. If that changed, the church would be in big trouble...legal caca.
5. In the years surrounding Joseph's Smith's revelations with the gold plates, there were a dozen other churches with the same story of gold plates, seeing stones, etc. His just stuck.

years ago when i was a witness, it was determined by the individual's progress.
someone has relayed to me that it is now a mandatory minimum of 1 year.
I was recommended by 2 different congregations 4 times in 2 years (I disassociated myself). The original committee would not even answer by the fourth, to the disbelief of the 2nd body of elders. They would have had to admit error and this was impossible. Fortunately, I got the "new light."
i was never baptised when i attended the kingdom hall so i went to the meetings with sholder length hair (with my jw parents).
one time i had been approached by the elders concerning this matter.
they asked me if i planned to cut my hair and progress in the truth and get baptised.
There's a smile on my face that wasn't there before.
its all about lurkers: there are at least three main types of lurkers, 1. a jw with doubts, concerns, feeling that something is wrong with the religion, 2. an ex-jw who is caught between two worlds, and does not feel free yet to live a normal life, 3. a non-jw who is either involved with a jw, or a relative of a jw, or is in the middle of being studied with by the jws.. defining moments: everything we write, say, and do is observed by the lurkers.
in a single moment, or a series of collected comments, we will eventually cause a lurker to have a defining moment ... a point in time where they decide that being a jw is not for them anymore, or that they can stop living between two worlds, or cease studying, and not join the religion.
we may never know who we help, or how many.. flame wars and character attacks: when we get embroiled in these, whether we are the instigator or the brunt of the attacks ... what are we really doing?
Lurkers may realize that some "new light" is coming from this end too!
