  BOWEN'S COMMON CAUSE

  i'm still thinking this through, so i invite differing perspectives from the board members.. if bill bowen's mission is to expose the wt policy on molestation, and hence by this exposure ellicit a favourable change to their paradigm, wouldnt he as a result be inadvertently " cleansing " the wt, making it " better " ?.

  this obviously being a fruitage of his works, and the fact that he has the unequivocal support of most xjw's ( like you fine folk ) wouldnt that mean that you guys would then be a part of that aforementioned work, that of improving the wt image and policy.. therefore the question is cloaked by a seeming contradiction in the form of a paradox, namely..... by supporting billy boy are you destroying the wt image or refurbing it ?.

  does god really work in such a mysterious way ?

  OK, here's my perspective.

  1. First and foremost, children need to be protected no matter whose they are. Alot of us still have family in and have a personal interest above and beyond the moral issues involved.

  2. If, in the meanwhile, some see the hypocrisy of those taking the lead and their doublespeak, faulty policies, and lack of empathy, so be it. The good hearts will respond. This may also cause others to wonder what else is being hidden from them.

  3. It will also alert the public to another form of danger they would not be aware of otherwise.

  There are alot of hurt and healing people who are looking for some vindication or closure to their pain and the pedophile issue seemed to fit the bill (no pun intended). As long as we keep it rational and try to obtain positive results instead of looking for the downfall of the organization, we are all better for it.

  Well today is the day that I leave the WTS

  this morning i told my wife about my decision to step down as a ms and that i also would'nt be attending any meetings.

  she made a few comments that i expected her to make, but strangely enough she was for the most part very silent.

  she made it clear that she was against the decision but outside of a few other comments she said very little.

  as many of you may know in recent weeks wt has moved to silence victims and advocates by disfellowshipping those who have spoken out on child molestation within the organization.

  spokesman for jehovahs witnesses have made allegations that are untruthful, from saying that they had no idea who was appearing on dateline, stating that it has been established policy that child molesters work only in twos in the door to door ministry, to stating the judicial meetings were over other sins against god.

  There are no "Billites" here. Only sheep that have been skinned and thrown about who have someone who will be heard finally speaking for them as only a male can in the "good ol' boys club". Children and women are not heard in the congregation, if you didn't notice.

  Spiritual death was a side-effect of our continued involvement with a man made organization. Since leaving, we are finding our needs finally met and being helped by a true brotherhood who have nothing to benefit from us financially, no time cards are filled out or hours counted.

  I'm sure Bill would like to know exactly what he is gaining by standing up for his principles. If you pay attention to other posters, you will see it has cost them their relationship with relatives and loved ones who only loved conditionally, some have even suffered financially due to business dealing with JW's being cut off and some having business contracts broken fraudulently. You can't put a price on your freedom though or your ability to sleep with a clear conscience.

  Thanks Bill. This pregnant body can't make it but I will be sending you a candle and pictures of victims of this policy so you have some faces with you. I will also be there in spirit. Bless your heart.

  JR & handholding your local pedophile

  i've seen a jr brown quote stating that 'the current jw policy does not allow known pedophiles to go door-to-door by themselves'.

  could someone post the details of when and where this policy became official and the exact wording of said policy?

  also, there was a jr brown quote from 6 months ago or so to the effect that, "we may have had problems with our policy in the past (like many other religions), but we now have an aggresive policy to protect the congregation from pedophiles", or substance thereof.

  The elder who molested me goes out in service alone all the time. When he can't go, he babysits for the "sisters" on bible studies. How sweet.

  as i am sure most of you know my parents were told they were to be disfellowshipped by roger eisenhuth and steve stripling over the telephone today.

  yes we know they were disfellowshipped for apostasy however, is'nt it curious that they were not provided an explanation for how the elder body came to their decision.

  i personally think that it is something that is truly deserving of an answer.

  Letters in the mail tomorrow. Same one Bill's committee got, along with photos of victims to put faces to this tragedy.
  Maybe someone, somewhere will find some shred of a Christian conscience. I still have family in and hope someone would do it for them.

  those who are critical and small minded know who they are.

  Nice to meet you Justin. Welcome to the board and your comments are appreciated by those of us who have lived this horror.

  I too am grateful for Bill and others. I was a "sister" in the congregation and could have never had the impact the "brothers" have. My choices were limited but only due to organizational policy. I am just thankful that someone is standing up for those who could not. I also want to thank everyone on behalf of my children who don't know the battle being fought now but someday will see the true heroes who have done so much for them, you know who you are.

  psychdigg: i just got on the board again and saw your post about bill bowen.. in typical jw-style you attack the person rather than the issue of child molestation.

  a system that is wholly unchristian and uncivil by any reasonable standard of measurement ... except maybe with radical extremists groups.. against the normally wise comments of kismet regarding ignoring people who jump out with personal attacks as you have done, i have decided on a different course.

  Another issue that may be being missed:

  The abuse has been going on for generations. I am now an adult who was molested over 2/3 of my childhood. MY CHILDREN are now in danger from my pedophile father due to contact being allowed through the congregation without my consent or knowlege. He is an admitted pedophile. There are court records to prove it and a restraining order in place that is ignored. I am disassociated but my children have contact through my ex who is still actively in denial.

  This is a generational issue with many faces.
